I'm sitting in the stands watching the Silver Crown cars....awesome midget race...Dario won the pole. The breeze is cool off Lake Michigan....but what could be better....Indy...Silver crown...midgets....in one evening!

I'm at the June Sprints at Road America and the weather and rum are marvelous.

The Silver Crown race was one of the best races I have ever seen on a pavement track and I've been following these guys for 30 years! Bobby East was clearly the class of the field on one of the restart USAC officials claimed he jumped the start and penalized him...he was not happy and expressed his displeasure to USAC's finest with a one finger salute. USAC then sent him to the tail end of the pack for actions detrimental to USAC. East passed cars high and low and was absolutely possesed. He passed a car on nearly every lap...my 8 year son was going crazy jumping up and down cheering, fist pumping it was truly exciting to see...stick that kid in an IndyCar.

But you have to be good in the USAC ranks if you want to win considering how dodgy the officiating tends to be.  Wish I could have seen that race myself. |
