Wish it was still a 1 race a year facility but it will be interesting. Is it too much to hope that they reconfigure the track when they repave? I never loved the roadie layout that much YMMV. I bet Chip will be up trying to win another type of race at IMS. Too bad The Captain folded his G-Am team a few years back!

Yeah, but it could be a chance for a Gurney to win at Indy... Even if its Alex it would be a Gurney... Chris

Hey! I'm for that! The dream team...Gurney-Hill. Phil never drove at Indy did he? I don't think so.

Bennett Hill had 8 starts Graham Hill had 3 starts with 1 win Jimmy Hill, George Hill, & Andy Hillenburg had 1 start apiece
...but no Phil Hill. That would have been great though!!

I just wish they would get rid of the couple holes of golf course that were added in the late 1990s (and I am lucky I had a chance to see the older infield area before that).
I have to wonder what the house owners around the speedway think about these new races. I talked to one a few years ago and he enjoyed it when it was just once a year that his lawn got trampled by fans. But four times, yeah I can empathize.
As for Rolex, that would be pretty cool. What would make it even better is if it became one of the points races for the new international Sports Car championship starting next year (they say they want two American races to be points races for it). But I imagine THAT distinction will go to Daytona and Sebring, which would be as it should be.

Well Jay, most of the people who live near the track (I live just outside Gate 10) are race fans and knew when they bought their house what to expect. The way I see it, I get to charge people to park in my yard 3 times a year. Not such a big crowd with MotoGP, but the 500 and the Brickyard help pay my property tax every year!
Jordan, they changed the track layout for the MotoGP race. The Rolex cars would probably use the same layout. Maybe not the part inside turn 1, though they did test on it back in 09. I doubt they will change it again.

Now, if we just ask NASCAR to stay home...

Now, if we just ask NASCAR to stay home... Any race other than the Indy Cars at Indy is sacrilege. Indy is for Indy Cars!

The Speedway is not selling tickets in several stands for the Brickyard 400.

Valid points Indydog (and if you've got the space to charge for parking, even better). Admittedly when I had the chat with the guy, it was a few years ago (the Moto GP race hadn't been added yet). Personally, I would love to have a house located near the track. I enjoy passing through Indianapolis and whenever I can (and the traffic isn't snarled like it usually is due to the road construction on the west side interstates) I like to take a drive by the track just to marvel at how big it is.
Prototypes on Indy will certainly be interesting.

I am not a nascar fan, and have not been for several years, but I do watch the Brickyard 400. I go to the 500 almost every year, and went to every F1 race at Indy. I will go to the GrandAm race. For me , the speedway is a very special place, and I will go to almost any event they have. Just not nascar. Take Care Craig
