Hello guys. My name is Jay Chladek and I hail from Bellevue, NE. I've been a longtime fan on Indy cars for years since the 1980s. You can probably blame it on when ABC went to live Indy 500 coverage in that period. I probably have the biggest collection of both 1/43 and 1/64 Indy diecasts in the state, but I am also a model builder. I admit though that while I've collected Indycar model kits, I've yet to build any mainly because I chicken out a bit when I open the boxes due to a lack or research resources and the desire to mess with gloss paintjobs. As such, to this point I've primarily built SF, aircraft and real space subjects (space shuttles mainly).
Recently, I think I've worked up enough nerve to do at least a couple of the kits in my stash and the Indycals site certainly has my mouth and pocketbook watering to want to do more. Plus, I love the finishes that come from Tamiya spray cans. So at least if I use those, I can end up with some decent gloss finishes without too much of a hassle.
My favorite Indycar of them all is Al Unser Sr's 1987 Indy 500 winning March 86C because of the back story associated with it (show car on display, put out to pasture, recalled to action and became the winner). A close second would be the Bobby Rahal 1986 Indy 500 winner (of which I see Indycals has that sheet, so I guess I'll be needing another March 86C kit then).
So, I hope to be around pretty often, at least while I work on a couple kits. I'll probably be hanging out at the sub-forum where most of the styrene kits can be found, but I might branch out into some of the 60s cars as well as I have an MPC Watson roadster and a Lotus in my stash (from the MPC Hall of Fame set). We shall see. Just thought I would say hello first.
