Anyone know if the 2012 Engine rules allow inter-coolers on the Turbo 4 cylinder engines? I was looking at the Aero package and was wondering if Inter-coolers were going to be used, thus adding some certain sidepod dimensions.. Chris

If they continue to run with Ethanol as the fuel, you may not see intercoolers. To date the cooling from the vaporization of the fuel has been enough to cool the intake charge sufficiently especially with regulated boost levels. However, there may be more power/efficiency to be extracted from the addition of intercoolers? I suspect they will want the rules to try and make engines similar in output. Despite the fact that they want differentiation in hardware it is still the preparation skill of the teams and driving talent of the pilots that may make for the final difference. If one aero or engine package appears to be too good, the teams will just gravitate(as they have in the past) to that package and we may be back to a one make series? I wonder if that is why the teams may be objecting to the multiple aero package idea? Too expensive to try them all to find the best one?!
