Hey guys I'm new to the modeling world. I've been building all the open wheel cars. My question is how do you guys apply the long pinstriped decals? I'm currently doing the amt Al Unser Sr. Cummins March 86C car. I'm having trouble. Do you cut the decal in half so it's easier to work with or what? Any advice would help. Thanks, Frank

Not to sound like a smart@$$ or a salesman for Mike Portaro, but I would buy the Indycals version of decals for that car. Mike uses superior materials and they are spot on accurate.
As far as how to apply the striping, I make sure the decal has plenty of water underneath it. A trick I've used is to use a few drops of water on the areas where the stripes go. Apply the stripes then as you position them correctly, carefully blot the water and bubbles out.
Hey guys, any other tips?

For sure Frank, buy the Indycal decals. You will enjoy working with them much more than the old AMT decals offered in the kit. I think if you follow the directions for Indycal decals you will have no trouble laying down the stripes in one piece. Sure if you feel more comfortable you can cut them, but then you have the challenge of lining up your sections. indycals.net/decals/indy/87cummins.htmlPaul Erlendson

A lot of times just how you control the water under the decal can help position it better. Find a good end and start squeezing the water out.
