Finally all the parts are gathered! This project has been a long time waiting... A lot of work ahead on this Hong Kong toy in 1/24 scale, but well worth it what with Michael's great decals. Patrick

Hi Patrick, have you done the BT44B by Hong Kong NO.184? Like to see your work on it. I've got one but the cockpit walls seem wrong. Hope to hear from you and what you think. Love your work and the era especially on the 1.5 Litre cars.

Hi Kent,
No, this a Roxy Toys no.307 that I'm working with. The scoop is not right on mine...it's more like the 1974 BT44 car. I'm not decided yet as to how I'm going to deal with it. All else looks pretty good or modifiable by using one of the many Tamiya BT44B kit builds on the internet. I built one many years ago(like 30!) and a good friend has it in his collection.
Patrick
Can you post a photo of your no. 184 car? I am aware of another toy but not the maker...it didn't have well defined monocoque sides as I recall.

Hi "Mestre", the engine and gearbox came with the body or not? For the cockpit details, check at www.gurneyflap.com. The airbox looks like the BT44 from 1974, what version you gonna build ? Cheers, nice project. Alex

Looks like I have to get myself a Roxy Brabham. This is likely the one folmula14kdc is talking about. It says NO.814, BRABHAM BT44B, MAGE IN HONG KONG on the bottom with a logo that looks like a puffy K with an m below it. The cockpit sides are not vertical but about 60° and the sidepods are very soft edged. Here is an image of the toy and what I want to build with mine. Trevor Hosted on FotkiHosted on Fotki

I am so surprised Trevor! I saw the photo of Eppie's car and thought of you! Yesterday I saw some Canadian flag decals on EvilBay and again thought of you. The toy BT44 you show was the other toy I once had and used the air box for my first model I made. That air box had a better shape.
Thanks Alex for the complement. The engine and gearbox comes from a Fujimi Dome-O kit. The Hewland is too boxy but passable once all the oil lines and radiators get attached.

Well , I finally got the body work ready and a good coat of gloss white on. I've been assembling the chassis parts together... When the decals get put on I'll up date.

This work of art brings to mind the old axiom about making chicken salad out of chickens**t. You get the idea. It's beautiful.

I started the decaling process this morning and I have a major thanks to Michael of Indycals for producing one of the most excellent products I have had the pleasure to use! ;D The decals went on perfectly, but require extreme patience and concentration. An example...I had just put on the nose decal (it fit this Hong Kong toy perfectly) and proceeded to apply the Martini air box logo. After fitting them I then picked up the body to admire the work...ARRGH! Yes I picked up the body by the air box and lost one of the Martini decals. I checked my fingers...nope. I checked my clothes...nope. Then, it must be on the brown carpet! I get down on my hands and knees to search...nope! Where in the heck is that decal? Oh my God :oNO-O-O-O! There it was pressed firmly into the cracks of my Knee skin...the same knee that I was down on searching for the lost decal!!! Moral of this story...think and take your time applying Michael's excellent decals. Pictures to follow when decaling is done. Patrick

Moving along...front suspension attached... and the engine/ rear suspension unit... I'm still amazed at the fit of the decals. Very nice. I'm going to include for next report a photo of my first BT44b and this one. Patrick
