Great Blog! The other day I noticed that you had a new picture up of this car! I'd like to do some early "IRL cars" sometime......which is why I just bought a few decals from you ironically this evening Besides the bad weather the 1997 Indy 500 was pretty interesting IMO. BTW you may want to fix your link? I think you wanted it to go to the blog.

Fixed!
It was a very interesting race, but for me the coolest thing was that since we could sit anywhere on Tuesday I sat in the first row behind the victory lane photographers - I got a hat that Arie threw to the crowd from Victory Lane!

The funniest part of the race was that last lap when the yellow lights were on but the green and white flags came out and Arie and Scott were caught off guard - Arie hurried and down shifted real quick then back up, to get moment back after the surprising green flag was shown - then he went down the back and came on the radio and was WTF? LOL
I know a lot of people didn't like them but I didn't mind the old 4.0 liter engines they used to use. I kinda like how they sound.

For those that dont know or remember what I'm talking about - start at 5:25 I was amazed at the crowd that showed up on Tuesday. At 9am the streets around the speedway were deserted - I thought the crowd was going to be an embarrassment. I think it just kept filling up all through the race.

The video reminds me how lame USAC was and how they should have been removed long before the debacle at the end of the race. The next week at Texas sealed the deal for them. The car looks GREAT Michael!!

Very nice Michael. I know that is a lot of work! Especially trying to strip paint off of resin cars! It's always nice to see something renewed.

This was my first 500. After it was rained out on Sunday and Monday, my Dad and I headed back to Kansas assuming that they would run it the next weekend and we could come back. We made it almost all the way home before we heard on the radio that it would be Tuesday. Since he had to work and I had school, I had to wait until 98 to see my first full race.
