Where can I find accurate wire wheels and tires for some of the older cars? I would like ones that would work from the '20s through the early 50s.

These guys have them, easy to deal with, just ask for the wheel kit Bill Jorgensen uses: www.sefinecast.co.uk/Brian

I have been in touch with them using their website. Trying to arrange payment is something else.

I'd like to know if they're making them again. I checked about a year or two ago and was told no longer available and they referred me to some company in Italy. That's why I made mine on my 35 Gilmore. Getting future hubs will be a challenge, resin may be the solution. mb2501.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=1140&action=display&thread=707I'd buy several sets if they're producing again. Strada Sports used to carry a set for the Dusenburg kits but I don't see it there anymore, it was like $75 for a set of 4 wheels. Let me us know. Dave

Herb Deeks makes P/E wire wheels, but they don't look as "right" to me. I think they may be a smaller diameter as well.

Thanks for all the good responses. I may try cutting some tubing as Dave did to see if I can get that to work. I emailed SEFinecast and they told me the 19" wheel kit was still available. Tires are still a problem. I have thought about trying to shave down the old tires to get them more to scale. They have all of the accurate Firestone lettering cast on them. Jim

Does anyone make resin tires for this era Indy car?

I hear that Profile 24 sells wheel and tire sets. There was an article (perhaps burried in this board) where someone used their great Bugatti 37 Le Mans tank wheels on the Finecast Typ.59 with beautiful results.
They also have the Lotus wobbly wheels a 38 Alpha, and 1926 Renault. Not sure that they are all available but it is worth a try.

Thanks for the S.E. Finecast link. Has anyone build one of there cars? They have several I would love to build - Lotus 38 & 33, Brabham BT24, BRM, Shark nose Ferrari, ERA.
From what I could tell it looks like they are metal, not resin. I assume this is white metal, though the body shells they show could well be die cast.
Any info?

I ,too, have built a SE Finecast (Will's Finecast). Very soft metal, don't squeeze too hard, but certainly workable. I have a BRM, Lotus 25, and a Ferrari 156/61 in (slow) progress. I have finished the Brabham BT24. The nose needs reworking, but the tires are nice. Patto's in Australia makes an excellent shiny gold nose stripe decal for the car, too. Patrick
