Hi,
Is anyone planning to attend the national model show next month in Virginia Beach? I'll be there and would like to meet up with any of the guys from the group.

Hi Mongo, This is the yearly biggie contest/model show for IPMS/USA. Besides contestants from all corners of the US, modelers from UK, Europe, Canada, and South America will be in attendance as well. PLUS, with over a hundred vendors already signed up, for three days it will be the World's Biggest Hobby Shop! Many of the major companies (Tamiya for example) will have booths set up. Also Dragon/USA has scheduled its annual Model Expo to coincide with the Nationals at the same convention center. They will be selling some convention exclusive editions of some aircraft and armor kits. Its true the IPMS organization, of which I'm a member of, has a majority of aircraft/ armor/ship modelers compared to car modeler members, but theres always a great turnout of cars of all types, all scales at the Nats. I remember one National event I attended some guy had a fully plumbed, wired and detailed Ferrari F1 in 1/43 scale! That model was awsome. Lastly Virginia Beach is a good vacation spot with the Atlantic Ocean about 5 or 6 blocks away from the convention site. Hi Sandy, I was an IPMS member n the early '70s. Haven't been a member since about 1975.....  I have been to Va. Beach/Norfolk many times so it is a possibility I could make it. I will check out the club's site. Thanks! Mongo <>< |

Let me know if you're going to be there. Sounds like you're familiar with this area. I'm in Chesapeake, next to Va Beach. Luckily, the convention is about a 45 minute drive for me.
