Hi, I noticed on some discussions about the Tamiya 1/20th M23 kit that there have been some issues about the windscreen accuracy and its 'scale' thickness. A few years ago a model shop in New Zealand produced an accurate vac formed replacement windscreen for both the 1/20th and 1/12th Tamiya kits, and they are still available. I have no commercial interest, just giving a heads up that they are available. www.modelcraftsandhobbies.co.nz/?page=shop/browse&offset=20&category_id=2b4f26df037cb88cdbd01a541e5ea103&keyword=&specials=&M23 reference photos. We are extremely lucky in NZ that we are home to M23/1, an unmolested authentic car that was owned by Denny Hulme after his retirement. I have a large amount of reference photos of this car, some that I will post in this thread very soon. I am happy to supply any photos in high res by email provided they are only used for your own reference. For any body building the 1/12th kit or the Iritani 1/20th conversion they could be very helpful. Send me a PM. Gavin.

Yes, thank you for the great pics! I have several of the vac-formed windscreens and they are great.

I have some photos of the restored M23/2 that was Revson's car that I will scan and post soon. Nothing as detailed as M23/1, but some little differences that may help build a better model.

I hadn't heard of that transkit, although my wallet struggles to run to the MFH prices, but I will check it out. I do have a few Iritani kits to build, so they will probably satisfy my M23 cravings along with the re release and the original Tamiya kits I have.
Still have to scan the Revson car photos, but they may not add much more. I have posted the majority of the M23/1 photos I have taken, but if there is a particular detail you need, just ask and I will see if I can find it.

You guys are too much. What a world we live in. It seems as if those downunder are having all the fun. The photos are just mindblowing and then we get to the kits. You make it hard not to be intimidated. This and you are just great. Thanks for sharing. I loved it when Hulme ran Indy with gurney. I think the period from 1960 to 1975 may have been Indy's best. Looks like a cool transkit Chris, but checking the prices I think I will stick to the Iritani kits I have. I just counted up that I have 12 Tamiya 1/20th M23 kits and 6 Iritani M23 kits in my stash plus 2 1/12th Tamiyas, so I think that should just about cover what I require, just need time to build them. Agree on your comments about Strada, always had great service from Kevin. James, you are welcome, lots more photos of other cars where they came from. Anybody building any F5000 models I have lots of photos of McLaren M10s, McRae GM1s, lots of Lolas, Surtees, Beggs, etc. Just ask. Oh, and a 1972 McLaren M16B.

On a somewhat related note, I recently did a blog entry about tinting windscreens and I used my 1973 Yardley McLaren as an example: www.indycals.net/blog/?p=568

Great tip! If you screw up with Future, ammonia or ammonia-based window cleaner will wipe it right off! Much more forgiving than trying to airbrush a paint in an even coat.

Hey Flying kiwi When I can get to it I'll finish my M10B. Send me a message with the bell housing-to-chassis adapter photo.

I will see what I can find, and may put some M10 photos into your build thread to inspire the completion even more.
