Hi All,
The '61 Simoniz Spl. is kinda at a disadvantage when it comes to references. I am guessing on how to do the seat, so I would like any and all comments on that aspect. Black with a cloth seat front insert? Gold like the rest of the upholstery with a cloth insert? (I seem to find a lot of cloth inserts on these seats.)
[just checking to make sure this *thing* is on ;D ]
TIA Mongo

Mongo!!!!
I went straight to the source on this one for you....According to Jim Rathmann, who asked me..."What!?! Are you building another car model?" The seat for his 1961 ride was gold on the outer parts, with black cloth inserts. Two toned just like the car.
Best to you
Russ

Thanks a BUNCH! I just keep on owing you, my friend! LOL!!
It is getting towards time to start assembling all the sub assemblies. I guess one is never really FINISHED, you just pick a time when you stop and finish it! LOL!! Scribed the panels, and marked for the fasteners according to Mr. Clindinst's drawings. Also made the *little* bubble on the hood, and maybe have FINALLY finished shaping the nose. I *think* I will quit on the nose anyway........
As to the front axle, do you still recommend cutting 1/8th" out of the axle? I need to do that if so. The cockpit combing turned out pretty decent, and the chassis is pretty much just needing suspension parts glued on.
like I said, am I ever gonna finish?? LOL!! Mongo
