WOW! That was great. It makes me glad that I've been able to see some of the great moments in Speedway history and that I've seen some of the greats drive there. It also saddens me to see how the 500 has been compromised in the name of progress. Thanks for posting this Russ. It really is and always will be a special place.

John,
I used to feel the same way you do now. I was a bit heartless and very cynical about everything around me, including the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing." It did me no good at all and I was slowly becoming what I hated the most....A grouch...
Now after removing 189 pounds of negative influence in my life...I don't see the isn't either half full or half empty...I'm just damn glad to have a FREAKING GLASS!!! The 500 is and will remain the only race I care about. Oh...I'll watch the 'Taxi Cabs' of NASCAR every now and then. The F-1 Cars are so damn ugly I can't stand to watch them, but it's all good......right?
