Generally I am known on the board as a "Diecast Guy" because that is what I have been doing for the last 3 or 4 years. Just thought I would show you guys that I wasn't always that way. I used to be really heavy into F1 1/12th scale plastic and below are a few I did in the early part of this decade. 1st one is a 1968 Gurney Eagle (Monaco version) Built using a Tamiya Honda F1 as a base and a modified Tamiya Matra V12. [img src="http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/6801.jpg" img] [img src="http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/6804.jpg" img] This is the Bandai Ferrari F1 highly modified. I used ABC wheels & tires. [img src="http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/F01-1.jpg" img] [img src="http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/F02-1.jpg" img] This is a modified Lotus 72 built into Rindt's car. Scratch built the rear wing and air box from sheet plastic. [img src="http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/L01-1.jpg" img] [img src="http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/L02-1.jpg" img] Thanks, Stu

Very nice, all of them! I scrounged a partially built Honda and Matra years ago to build an Eagle, just never gotten around to it yet, yours are inspiring!

Stu,
Those are excellent conversion scratch-bashes!!!! I am so impressed with your ability to see the possibilities. The 312 F1 is VERY good!

Thanks Guys. Seems like ages since I did one. Here are a few more pics of the 68 Ferrari Patrick. I have a huge Power Point WIP showing how I did it and would be glad to send it to you if you are interested. It's 13MB though so think about it. Man, those are fantastic! Terrific work.
Was that #36 Eagle featured in a car model magazine (Car Modeler or Plastic Fanatic?) years ago? I still have that magazine, but I'm at work right now so can't check it. From my memory, it sure looks like that one, right down to the realistic figure of Gurney in the cockpit.

It was Scale Auto from maybe the early 90's? That one wasn't mine but that's where I got the inspiration to do mine.

Dag! Love those Eagles! And the Matra V12 conversion is super hot stuff. Do you have any specs for the Weslake vs the Matra? Are they really a good match? Do you have any build up outlines? I want to get all over this.
Thanks.

The Gurney Spa winner was featured on the Modelersite web site. I have the PDF of the build and will email to anyone that wants it. Just PM me with your email address. It's 5.4MB
The Matra V12 is much larger than the Eagle V12. I had to section both the engine block, heads and cam covers to duplicate the Eagle.

Hi Kent, Click on Harveydog2 and it will take you to a different screen. At the top it will say "Send personal message" and just click on that.
Or, if you don't care who sees your email then you can just reply here and type it in.

Really inspiring work. I love the Ferrari especially. Nice to see some driver figures in the big scale models as well. Regards, Steve.
