2010 Ferrari F10 - Fernando Alonso

Im proud to have the first WIP on this 2010+ forum, Im sure there will be many more if this F1 Modeling craze continues.....I just got one of the new 1/24 Revell Ferrari F10's. This is going to be my third Revell F1 Kit. But first off I think this one is their best one yet....the parts a little more sharper than the kits before.



Its the normal curbside model, nothing new there.


Comes with optional F-duct setup.



Before I got the kit I was hoping they did the front wheels correctly and I think they did. The front wheels have two other rings that go in the center of the main part of the wheel to make the correct Ferrari wheels of last year.


As for the Tires, well...they would look good to a Gummy Bear.
A little sanding of the tire should make them better.


When I did the F2007 the decals were GREAT! So expect the same with these. The C/F looks really good too.

As of now I plan on doing a late season F10 with a nice bare engine cover w/ F-duct.

For the color, that seems to be kind of a question still? I've asked around and I really cant get a real convincing answer of what the correct shade of Tamiya paint would work the best. I've seen a few people use the Tamiya TS-8 but I see too much Orange in the red on the real car to settle for TS-8. Especially after seeing this picture.

I've never used Tamiya's new Bright Mica Red, Im wondering if that would be the correct one?

As for this WIP I plan on Gluing it up as far as possible. But Im out of Tamiya Primer and will not be able to go anywhere on this 'tel I get some. (Thats how loyal I em to the darn stuff.)

But overall if a person wants something fast, cheap, and easy. Then I'd get one of these. Sometimes its nice to build a "no brainier kit."

I went ahead and glued a lot of the parts up which didn't take that long at all....Like usual I'm not following the instruction. But everything looks to fit pretty darn good! Easy, Easy, Easy.

Here is a few shots of the steps Im taking.




I went ahead and just glued in the cockpit - I'll just use brush to add the flat black later after the body is painted, besides it gets covered mostly in Carbon Fiber anyway, along with most everything else that is black.



I added the F-duct


I set the body on the floor pan just for a jig (not glued) to help in keeping everything in line because when glue drys it does move sometimes.






The rear wing is almost all white besides the red on the outside of the end-plate. So I just went ahead and glued it up for the strength and less chance of messing it up later.

Im running out of things to do with the Cat.

I just spent less than an Hour glue it up to its current form.

When I said Easy I really meant it, its very easy.

As I've fiddled around with these tires Ive came to the conclusion that they are total ****

Proly the worst tires I've ever came across. They are out of round, they dont sand worth a crap, and the wheels dont even come close to fitting them properly.

The rest of kit looks great but those tires are unbelievable!?!?!

I believe that Revell picked up where Protar left off at! I have a Protar McLaren MP4/2c sitting in a box 80% finished for years. The biggest problem, the tires. I have not come up with a solution to replace them yet! I believe when Protar was ending their F-1 series, Revell of Germany picked it up. I believe some of the early kits are the same. If you look at the Ferrari 412s from both companies they are identical. So, I think as Revell ran Protar's molds they just continued the same rotten process in tire making.

As simple a shape as the modern F1 tire now is, for the life of me I can't understand why Revell just doesn't mold them in plastic - 2 halfs that the modeler glues together, as AMT did with some of their '70's McLaren Indy car kits.

That being said, I think there is money to be made for some resin caster who wants to make good replacement tires for the new Revell F1 kits. James, do you hear me?

It's my understanding that Ferrari changed their color again last year for the F10 and you should use Italian Red. No more candy/metallic paints as used from 2007 to 2009.

Freshly painted with Tamiya Italian Red.....it a few days I'll fix the screw ups - then clear coat it - then polish it - then decal it and finish it.

Its done! For some reason I always have fun with these Revel F1 kits? Maybe because they are cheap (Kinda) and easy?

This is depicted of the winning German GP car.
I chose to do this one because I like the simplicity of the scheme. But most of all I dont like "M@r1b0r0 bar codes" So thats why.
