Hi All,
I about have the chassis finished, and I have the main body shells painted. Working on the nose and hood, and the main parts will be finished.
I am undecided as to what I need to leave *chrome plated* from the kit's parts. The rear nerf bar was chrome, but what else? I do not have a color picture, but I do have the Etzel decals (thanks, Russ!), and I have some of the original Venus Gold Dust that Smokey used in his gold paint.
Also, through oldcalhoun and Bob Clindinst, I understand the upholstery was gold leather. Any thoughts on what paint to use to simulate that?
The wheels were highly polished, I understand, so would AlcladII Chrome work for that, or should I use something else? Leaving them electroplated chrome doesn't seem like an option at all.
As soon as I pick up a new digi camera, I will post some WIP pictures.
Thanks for listening to all my questions. Mongo

Bill - Try mixing a flat light tan or brown with the gold. May take some experimenting but I think you'l like the results. Should give you the "semi"-flat leather look.

I can do that. ;D It has been a total BLAST to build this AMT kit. I hadn't built one in about 43, or so, years! There are a lot more parts than I remembered. ;D Mongo

The wheels don't seem to be chrome when you compare the LF with the exhaust pipe. I'd say strip the chrome Bill - you can do better!

Thanks, Brother Bill, for that picture. ;D It will come in very handy! Now, what color were the shocks??
I will use the techniques for the gold, Russ. I happen to have Humbrol Gold. ;D
How about the seat? I remember a cloth insert, usually, that was patterned and of a dark gray. (?) But is any of the seat metal/frame showing? And how about the rib and hip bolsters?
(can anyone guess that I use to do IPMS WWII warbirds?? I have been accused of being *Ultra Correct* on more than one occasion! LOL!!!!!!)

I am just waiting on an order of a new (to me) brand of masking tape to mask the hood. I am deliberately not rushing on this project, and I am really having a blast! The mods to the body, nose and hood took longer than I expected, but I think they are going to look good.
New camera SOON, I hope! ;D
