Glen,
What scale?
As for me, my vote is any Indy car that has never been done before. We are lacking from 1980 pretty much until 1985 but I figure anything will sell Indy wise to the guys on this board. Me included.

hi guys this will be an injection molding company, not a limited run resin company. don't get me wrong i have lots of friends in the resin casting business, but we will be a full line company and will have airplane, AFV, and car kits Glen

Welcome aboard Glen! I think you'll find a number of different needs for the modelers here on the website. Just start reading and you'll find out there are needs in eras of Indy car and Formula 1 and other areas of open wheel! For many of us are the missing Indy winning cars that have never been kitted. When you start producing kits, please let us know.

I suggested Glen join us to get a better idea of Open Wheel kits that may be mass produced yet fill the needs Globaly for all modelers. My suggestions were 2007 to 2010 Indy 500 with multiple versions available since they are all based on the same chassis-engine, cars like 67 Foyt Coyote, and other 500 winners, and most of all a 1967 STP Turbine in 1/24th scale, all of the models would be in that or 1/25 scale. So keep in mind, we would want cars that would benefit us and the modeling world in general as well as make a profit for them.. Chris

Also Glen is interested in Specific Cars not General types. I also suggested a Watson Roadster as that could be issued as many versions with only slight changes, additions and decals.. Chris

My vote, as always, is a 66 - 67 Eagle. It could be many Indy cars, and also, with some changes, the F1 car. It is also one of the best looking cars of all time, in the opinion of many. Take Care Craig

Indeed, Welcome aboard Glen.
I think there are many subjects of interest. While there have been several Indycar models in the past, injection molded kit opportunities have been sorely under developed. There has been many great technical innovations developed for Indycar racing over the years.
Perhaps the period of greatest evolution was the 60's and 70's.
There is also an opportunity to strike a balance between the unique design(eg. 67 Paxton Turbine, Ferguson NOVI, 70 Brabham, 69 eagle, 71 Parnelli's....) and the designs that could be offered in several configurations and decal variants(Eg. 66-67 Eagle, Watson, Deidt etc.)
I would like to see:
69 Lotus 64 69 Eagle 70 Brabham 72 Mcnamara 66-67 Eagle 71 Parnelli early wildcats Lightnings
2012 Indycar in various body kit configurations
The important part is to include engine and gearbox detail. While 1/24 would be nice 1/25 seems to be the preferred scale for Indycars historically.
How about some modern 1/24 scale sports prototypes like Audi, Peugeot or better still, customer cars like Lola, Zytec/Creation, Oreca, Porsche that could be offered in a wide variety of liveries and engine combinations.

Forgot something really important!
No one has ever done any plastic injection F5000 cars! Now that would be different and unique 1/24th or 1/20 scale would be cool!
And F5000 is now very popular in vintage racing!
Lola T332 Mcrae GM1 March Chevron Trojan Eagle Mark 5, 73A, 755 Surtees Talon Chevron Matich Mclaren

I realize Can Am was dominated with McLarens, both factory cars and customer cars, but how about a Shadow or Chaparrals? Lolas, Frisbees? I know these aren't open wheel cars, but the opportunity to mention them is to good to pass up. Calvin your comment about being put out your misery with regard to the Wildcat reminds me of one of my favorite W C Fields quotes. "The woman drove me to drink, and I'll be forever indebted to her"

Hi and welcome to the group. Here's my 2 cents worth on what kits to produce- Indy cars- 66-67 Eagles (lots of variations can be made off of a 'base' set of molds, 67 STP Turbine, Rodger Ward's '64 rear engine Watson (just a neat looking car and I want it!), a really good Lotus 29, I could go on and on.... F1- Mid '60s BRM, Brabham, Cooper, Eagle... cruelest trick in the history of modeling was Tamiya teasing us with the Honda RA 272 and Lotus 25 and then walking away from vintage F1. Curse you Tamiya-San! Can-Am- The interest in Can-Am seems to be growing as this was a series that epitomized (I had to look that word up!) wide open racing and innovation- the Lola T70, Good Grief!, how many different versions could you do off of a 'base' set of molds for that. There was even one that ran with a Ford DOHC Indy engine! Then add in the many versions of Chaparrals, McLarens, late series Porsches, March, BRM, etc, etc....

I heartily agree that a F5000 Lola T332 would be ZOWIE! So many different varieties and T330s too boot!

I hate to rain on everyone's parade, but we need to remember the key to an injection molded company's survival is mass appeal. I learned a long time ago that modelers, and yes I am one, are a poor source for what makes a wise business decision and to what sells. We tend to think because "I" want it and have for a long time, "everyone" will want at least one too. That being said I'd love to see a lot of what has been mentioned in the above comments. I always liked that 1964 Watson and it would accept both Offy and Ford engines. But there were only the 2 of them and for only one year. But new Eagle, McLaren, Penske, or Lightnings were run for multiple years and by multiple teams. In plastic I'd buy at least one of each of those.

A Watson re-issue, a 67 Hawk re-issue coming in March, a Wildcat coming soon and now this. I don't know how much more of this I can stand. (Or afford!) Thanks Glen for letting us in on the fun.

Welcome Glen, hope we don't overwhelm you with our dream cars.
Global appeal? sure Seller? I still believe that a good 1/24-5 kit would be the 67 STP Turbine, but then again these guys know my feelings for this one off car. I would also love to see a Smokey Yunick Hurst Shifter Side-car model in either 1/24-5 or 1/18 scale.
Personally I feel that 1/18th may be becoming the new 1/24th scale.
I think also that most Indy collectors would love to see the Boyle Massaratti, or Blue Crow Special.
My list; 1967 STP Turbine Yunick Side Car 1966/7 Eagle Boyle Massaratti Blue Crown Special Lotus 11 Le Mans winner/single seater (In-out wheels?) Miller 91 FWD BRM P261
I am sure more will come to mind once I sign off but the cats won't stay of the ouw0r2ir22p keyboard.
Off subject, but I would also like to see a line of Deep Sea Submersables, Alvin, Triest, Jacques Cousteau's diving saucer.
Enjoy the boards.
