Here is a holiday quickbuild. This will be the Stebro Mk.IV Ford from the 1963 US GP at Watkins Glen. It's based on a Hong Kong toy Lotus 29. Here's the only known photo of the real deal... Hosted on Fotki

I'm working at it, slowly. I have my hands full between my job, race car hobbies in 1/1 and 1/24 scale, Corner 5 Hobbies and a woman who demands my time

Any progress on your Mk IV? Were you able to recreate the car in the form as it appears in this photograph from the 1963 US GP? I'd love to see how you did it!

;)Yes, I want to see it, too! As I said once..."Only a crazy Canadian..." How about a nice Lotus 16, eh? I've got my eye on David "Pipes" Piper's Mk16.

It's on the back burner as work on the full detail Mk.I. The Lotus 16 is so close to being ready. Just waiting on new Dunlops and Lotus wobblies.

Yes a Lotus 16. It's a heavy re-work/copy of the old Scalekraft body. It will be a full curbside kit unlike the SK "kit" pictured below. Hosted on FotkiHosted on Fotki

It seems that 1960's F-1 and sports cars and music, television are always on my mind anymore, perhaps it's an escape to the "Good Old Days" that we seem to want to go back to. Anyway, while killing time at Barnes & Noble, I came across the Jan 2016 (I guess) volume 92 Number 1 of MotorSport magazine with a great cover photo "Black Jack" 1966 Brabham and an article on "Return to Power" the 3-liter era. That alone would cause me to buy it but the article was great, especially a huge color photo inside of the BRM H-16 with black valve covers and BRM script in RED letters. That photo showed the upper/lower control arms attached with large bolts, nuts and ball ends, just what I needed. I had replaced some of the broken control arms on my IMC Lotus 29 with aluminum tube and wanted to attach to the tub properly. I immediately went to my local industrial hardware store and inquired about mini-screws. They had an eyeglass repair kit which had slotted screws but did have #00-80 socket head screws and hex nuts. I bought a bag of 100 each. The 00-80 were the smallest I could find, anyone know of smaller (and hex head) screws? The MotorSport article also had excellent info and great photos of the early 3-liter Cooper-Maserati's, the Serenissima V-8, Ferrari's etc, all in all an excellent magazine, I'm glad I happened to stumble upon it. Thanx, John

I found a great new image of the car and decided to post it. Life has interrupted my model building for almost 3 years. I am just getting fired up about it again. I hope to be back with a WIP or two and resin cast parts and kits shortly.

Stopped off at the local hobby shop today and bought a Revell Mickey Thompson Challenger (4 engined) 1/25 kit mainly for the Pontiac engines and chassis to use on other (1960s pre-Can-AM) projects. Opened the sealed box and the kit was missing valve covers, blowers, wheels and other chrome pieces, the box said white plastic parts only, immediately returned to the store. He said he will contact Revell about the missing parts. So looking for something else to buy, I found a bag of 5 hex head 00-90 1/8 screws #H861 made by Hob-Bits in the model railroad section, these are closer to scale than the 00-80 screws to use for Indy and F1 radius rod attachment to chassis tub and would also look good on suspension attachment points, 00-90 nuts are on order. However, the pack of 5 cost (2.99) at the hobby shop is almost the same as pack of 100 #00-80 Allen head screws at the industrial hardware store (but they don't have 00-90 hex). Thanx, John

Nice find with that new photo Trevor! It's the only photo I've seen that reveals the shape of the rear of engine cowl. Wish I had seen that a few years ago when I was making my model. Matt

Corner 5 Hobbies has been one of the most important suppliers of parts for my unusual projects and I couldn't have done so many cool projects with out Trevor's help. I understand the need for a break. Patrick
