COMING SOON!!!!!!!This is a one off scratch build I did of this car several years ago and my good friend Tom Beeler gave me hell for it. He was angry that I didn't send it to Chris Etzel and have him make copies for others to build. Lane Sellers has come to the rescue! I am currently working on a pattern to have Lance make kits from it. Stay tuned, I'm almost there. Best to you all!!!!!

Hey guy,
Not a dumb question at all...It's 1/25 scale. I took an old merit Alfa Romero 158 Alfta and started with that body, made some changes and add some putty, and there you go. I'm working on a body now that when I'm finished, will be sent to Lance Sellers to reproduce.
Best to you
Russ

Does anyone have measured drawings of the engine that went in this car? I have a cross section drawing, which is a decent start, but I would prefer measurements, rather than guessestimating the rest. Pico

Hi Russ,
That's going to be a great model.
Just one question. What's with the referrence pictures you have of the Maserati? It looks as if it has a widened suspension, and modern slicks mounted on wider wheels. I've never seen these pictures before. Are my eyes decieving me, or did someone do this just to see how fantastic these cars would be with modern tyres? If these pictures tell the truth, have you any more information? and could you please post clearer pictures?
Thanks very much in advance, Chris

Chris;
The photos are all picture I have taken at the Speedway Hall of Fame Museum over he years. The one picture you are asking about was shot with a wide angle lens to get as much detail on that one shot I could. No, then haven't pt wider tires tires on the car. It has it's original normal size tires on it. 19 inches on the fronts, 20 inches on the rear...Good old Firestone's too. This car...Shaw's Maserati went through many changes over the years and was restored by the Speedway some time ago. I most use the photos as a guide and rely on Bob Clidisnt drawings for the most part. He is the best source of information.
Best to you
Russ

I've been working on a 1/32 slot car, it started as this, but it needs better wheels, more louvres, and detail, and a better Wilbur, it's now going through an extensive re-build, I'll post pictures when I'm finally done, Chris

Mac Pinches, a gentleman in the UK used to make a line of 1/32 resin bodies called Pre-Add (pre-advertising). All the 30's, 40's and 50's Grand Prix cars he could think of. This was his "retirement" business, unfortunately he got too busy and retired from this too. He's very famous in slot car circles, espacially for his balsa carved scratch cars, like the Clancy 6 wheel special, I believe a search for Pre-Add bodies will bring more of his creations up, and so will a visit to Mark Gussin's site: www.mgussin.freeuk.com/ including more Maserati's. Thanks for the kind words Ron!
Many years ago, all I did was build WWII Aircraft then I was introduced to Fred Cady's Decals and an old AMT Watson Roadster....That's all I have been building ever since. Since then, we have seen Bill Jorgenson, Lance Sellers, Chris Etzel and Mike at Indycals....
Have fun, I am!
Best to you
Russ

Very nice conversion of the Alfetta- did you use SE Finecast wheels? If so could you mention how to get them, please? TIA Dan

Hey everyone,
What's the status on getting this kit in circulation?
BTW, real nice work on a graceful car.

Nice Maserati model, one of the sleekest roadsters ever! Always wanted to add one to my stable of winners. Hope we can see one on the market soon.
One question, why do people turn the "Finecast" wheels inside out an leave the notches exposed?
Model On!
