Hello everybody, I'm a new member and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Gary Sleeper and I live in Plano, Texas, near Dallas. I've been a fan of racing since I was about five years old, going back to the days of Taft Stadium in my home town, Oklahoma City. Under my pen name, Gary Wayne, I wrote for Open Wheel Magazine for several years and I wrote a history of the Watson Roadsters called "The Watson Years: When Roadsters Ruled the Speedway." Since I retired last year, I've been getting back into modeling; sprint cars so far, but I'll be adding track roadsters, midgets and maybe Indy cars soon. I'm sure I'll learn a lot here about both modeling and racing history. Of course, if I can answer any questions, I'll be happy to do that, too. Enough for now. Glad to be here! Gary

Great to have you. Personally, I just moved to Waxahachie so it is nice to have another DFW guy here ;D (there are more).
Feel free to ask for help when needed and help others when you can!

Howdy Gary!!!
I can't count how many times I have reached for your book on the Watson Roadsters. I feel it is the definitive source on that type of car, the one which I love he most! Nothing like a Watson Roadster!!!! Glad to have you here my friend!
Best to you!

Have any of those books left?!?!?! Sorry! I don't have any Watson books. The publisher, Witness Productions, has gone out of business since Ed Watson's death. I think Pit Stop Books has some. You might also try the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame. Whatever you do, don't buy from one of the online "rare book" sellers. There are still some available at regular retail prices. Gary

Good to have you Gary. I'm in Duncanville, just a few blocks south of the Dallas city limits. I'm a member of the Metroplex Car Modellers and we are having an NNL in Irving on November 6th. Why don't you try to join us? Jordan needs to try to make it as well. Here is a link to the website: www.themcma.net/
