I got this two weeks ago for a fairly good price. Its the 2007 reissue of this kit. I hope to make this a nice clean build with some important detail. But no P/E parts this time. I've always loved the looks of this car, with its Camel Yellow and nice shape. I'm hoping to depict his Monaco GP winning car.... Also I'm using Camel Lotus 99T Indycals on this car, which IMO is 1,000 times better than using the kits (r ::)ll my eyes) Non tobacco decals. But I'd have to admit the Tamiya decals look to have come along way..... This WIP will be totally LIVE, every time I do something important on this kit I'll make a post. It'll be kinda like a "Modeling Twitter" but with good info. LOL The first thing I just did was glue the radiator exits on the side pod, its best to get started on this asap, because body work takes a long time Then I just got done with painting the chassis with TS-40 Metallic Black. The reason I chose to paint it instead of Carbon fiber it, is because the C/F on the Lotus 99T is not well defined and adding C/F to it would be a little overkill to the eyes IMO. I also just got done Primering the side plates that go under top nose structure. These will be painted with camel yellow, I'll have to get these painted and ready long before the rest of the body.

This kit comes with the rivet decals, which is good. and I just got done applying the rivet decals and the camel logos. as you can see in the pic the Solvaset is set visible on the decals. The rivets that have already settled, look great! Later on (few days) I plan on applying a semi dull clear over this to give it one more step of realism. Then rough up the surface with steel wool to give that real look!

I painted these last night. I did 3 coats: 1 coat per hour which is the best way to use Tamiya TS paint according to: Tamiya USAI just got done applying the side decals. Also I made up my mind that I will not be building his Monaco GP winning car since I just put on both winning logos on this side piece. This is how the seat and front wing look as of now. I added some C/F to the cockpit area to detail it up.

Looks like your having some fun with this one Calvin! Jim Yep, especially when your building a top notch model like a Tamiya.... and when the paint job comes out very nice! as seen below on the body. ;D I know I say this a lot but This is my best color coat EVER.I think the reason why is I followed these instructions closely at: www.tamiyausa.com/articles/feature.php?article-id=35For those using Tamiya TS paint I totally recommend reading this. I mean just look at how good my Camel yellow came out!

Calvin AKA "The Machine" strikes again. He builds a show car in the time it takes me to cut the parts off the sprue. Another great job. Take Care Craig

Calvin: We have a saying here; "It's so slick, the flies would have to wear tennis shoes!" Super job ,my friend. THE MACHINE is at it again! I never see this car that I don't remember watching TV and Chris Economacki interviewing Senna after he won the Detroit G.P. CE: "Ayrton, how did you overcome the pit stop for the flat tire?" AS: "Oh, dat fla tie rella fack up ebertang!" EC:"Uhhhh...uhhh..." One of the rare times Economacki was speechless...TRUE story... Tim
