This guy must surely be the same guy that told Bush Iraq was full of WOMD and continues to tell him it's going great over there. Or, it could be that Dick Cheney is now building models to pad his income for retirement.

Is he kidding? Die cast? I built that model almost 20 years ago, which leads me to yet another of my endless questions: No doubt I will be building the Miller car again soon. So what shade of gold does the best job of looking like the real thing?

Hmmm my post from last night is gone.... Probably a user error ;D Anyway, I wanted to clarify that I am not one to pick on someone's models. However, in this case it was laughable how overhyped and overpriced this car was presented. Diecast? No plastic. 210 precision pieces? Probably only 1/3-1/2 that many pieces. "PENSKE PC-17 1998 INDY WINNER DANNY SULLIVAN - DRIVER"? The PC-17 did win The 500 in 19 88 but it wasn't Sully. Could be I misread his intent of this statement. "No detail was overlooked"? I picked out dozen or more just at a glance. I guess I just wanted to say I wasn't being mean spirited but it struck me that someone might take it that way. IMHO this car should be a $5-10 build up. $60 is a lot for even a very clean OOB build and this would not meet that standard. Jordan

"Lavishly Appointed" ? I thought this was a model kit of an Indy Car, not a Cadillac El Dorado. What's next, Ricardo Montalban's voice talking about the rich Corinthian leather interior?

No doubt I will be building the Miller car again soon. So what shade of gold does the best job of looking like the real thing? Reviving this to see if an accurate shade of gold exists. Maybe I should ask for a technique to achieve realistic results also! Gold seems to be a difficult color to represent nicely...

If you have an airbrush then Model Car World's 2006 Gold is probably your best bet.

A lot of people just do not know........ In any form of racing, there is a TON to learn, and if you are into more than one TYPE of racing, you have to work extra hard to learn even the simple things. There are plenty of people with plenty of money that will buy a model like that.
I know it is overpriced, and I wouldn't come close to paying anything like that. But, for instance, I do not know who won the '88 Indy 500, or the '98 race either (I do know who won in '61, '64, '67, '77!!! ;D ). I love the cars, and I have always loved racing. I keep up with the details of the cars MUCH more than who won what. I attended the 25th Anniv. of the Southern 500 and took my lovely wife. I do not even remember who won! But I do know a bunch about a LOT of the cars that ran that day. I am disadvantaged when it comes to Indianapolis cars mainly because I never got to see the cars run! So I am very happy to have found this site and the great bunch of people here. Now I can build models of beautiful cars that I only got to see pictures of, and be accurate through the help of everyone here.
Believe me, it's easier to build a real race car than going into a subject area that you don't know about.
