Hi gang! An idea crossed my mind, thinking about the hint whispered by Michael Indycals about, for instance, a Chaparral at 1/20. My question is if someone would be interested on a transkit consisting in a resin body and... WHICH CAR WOULD YOU LIKE? The possibilities are limited. Given the tyre/rim differences between F1 and Indycars, we could only use the Lola as a donor. Anyway and better thought, since most modelers ar used to improvise wishbones and the like, maybe wheels might be cast and then no Lola would be needed. Anyway, since we know that the "proper" scale is 1/25, it should be something very special, maybe something you'd like to have besides the '93 Lola. Sugestions?

I'm in the minority but I cast one vote for 1/18 scale.

If we could solve the wheel problem, a March 84C or something similar would make sense as you could build many versions from a single kit.

"I am glad you asked that" because I've thought of the March 84C lots of times. Lots of liveries, and relatively easy to do from certain other 1/20 F1 cars. The bog "BUT" here is the uglyness of most of the liveries, according certain research I've done. But I might do it no doubt! Maybe a more felexible aproach might be including wheels, so the donor has less to give, and besides we can get on with just some "spares" we all have here and there, not having to massacrate a full kit...

Carousel 1 has a 1984 March and it should not be a big deal to copy the wheels. Not everyone likes 1/18 and others are vocal against Carousel 1. I for one think they are a better starting point than any plastic or resin kit. They can be turned into about anything from there, as has been seen on this site. I believe 1/18 is the future. Please, no hate mail, just my opinion.

No "hate mail" here. 1/24-1/25 has always been the most popular scale for Indy cars and 1/20 for F1. I really don't have the room or the desire to build 1/18 anything, and my eyes are no longer good enough for 1/43. If you are into 1/18 or 1/43 I have no problem, it is just not my thing. Take Care Craig

Please, no hate mail, just my opinion. Surely not! Well, the thing is that the availability of 1/18 diecast will always increase. yes they are as good a strating point as anything, althought the metal is a bit hard to work with. And let's face it, sometimes it feels great to buy something already done. Well, whatever everyone likes!!

The March 84C interests me. The reason being is that will open the flood gates on available decals in an era that is really lacking. I tend to disagree that the liveries from 1984 were ugly however. I think the KRACO's, Coor's Light, CRC, STP cars are beautiful. Foyt's all Poppy Red Gilmore, Rahal's 7/11, Guererro's Master Mechanics, and even Howdy Holmes Jiffy Mix are great looking cars. I would also say that Unser Sr. red, white and gold Miller High Life car is fantastically cool.
No matter what scale is decided upon, Michael will make the decals available in all scales because that's what he does. It's all good.

I forgot to mention one of the best looking cars on the grid in 84! Dick Simon's Breakfree March! Love the grey metallic with red and red wheels!

I'm actually in the camp that most of the 84 Marches we're quite bland. It was a pretty vanilla car to begin with and the paint schemes that year did nothing for me. The best looking cars in 84 were the Budweiser and Domino's Lolas IMO. I'd rather see an 83 March, although the 83 liveries weren't a whole lot better than 84, but the 83 car had a little more character to it's lines. But if either one is made, I'll make some decals.

The larger issue, preferred scale aside, is the future of this hobby. Unless someone or some company decides to make something new, we are all stuck with what is currently available.

I only mentioned the 84C as an example of a car that many teams ran, I agree that maybe the 83 March might be a better choice.

84C is really fine for me since I have a good photographic archive of it and its liveries ;-)
