When I first bought Jonathan Thompson's book Ferrari Grand Prix Cars I saw the Farina car and had to build it. With little info other than race reports and the two photos I came up with the first version... the engine was a Datsun 240Z unit and an AMT chassis from a Watson. I changed the nose after the car appeared in Road & Track. Patrick PS...I don't know anything about that sprintcar!

Very cool, but a question. Was this an actual Grand Prix car, or is this supposed to be the one he practiced at Indy with in 1956? (which ironically was entered by the Maserati brothers)

Russ,
That was my best friend, Medusa. A queen among dogs. Passed to the other side and waiting for me to throw the ball for her.

The engine was from a sports Ferrari. It was built intended for Indy and never a F1. All I did was slide the AMT chassis into the Monogram Kurtis body, fiddle with the Datsun engine, add an AMY Offy trans, bash some cam covers, and presto! You have mayonnaise. I built this car back in the early 80's. Bashing was much more relaxed then.
