With the computer beast in control I can now post some pix for you to see what I did back in the mid 80's...first, my first real effort to do what the IPMS boys taught me about build specific models... my MPC Eagle of Tony A2Z's Championship winning Mk5a. Heller's horrible tires, but that's all that was available. This was the car I saw win at Sears Point International Raceway(Infineon Raceway to you youngsters!). Then here's Graham McRae's F5000 McRae GM1 that I saw race at Laguna Seca. This wasn't his Championship car, but the next year's car. A non-winner, I believe. It did look good! I won a contest with this model probably because of the paint and not because of the dragging exhaust! The wing came out extremely well (haven't been able to have the patience since either!). Patrick

Outstanding, man you gotta stop building models of cars that I have an association with. My brother-in-law Cyrus Palmer the Third.. was on the crew for McRae for a few years...Great Stuff Chris

I bought a Roxy toy to make a new GM1 and have started it. A couple of folks in NZ took some detail shots for me. I'll do a WIP when I start building again.

Here are the 2 cars...the #66 in the Championship car... and the #1 car is the following year... I love the lines of this car. I wouls only do this from the Roxy toy as the Entex M@r1b0r0-BRM is so-o-o-o-o bloody expensive I'd only build it as the BRM. Patrick

If you are about saying "no one built a model of this", you better ask Patrick first! Impressive, together with the Farina Kurtiss Ferrari. I think I have a pic in some place... Gotta love these oddballs!!!

Love the GM 1. Graham is a friend of mine and was here to visit about six months ago. He is having a rough go of it right now. Great driver in his day. Can't believe he is 70 years old!

I worked with Graham at Dick Simon Racing in 1985. Graham, former ROY at Indy, was promised a ride, which never materialized. In the interim, he took charge of making sure the cars were well prepared and instructed the newer crew members, myself included, at every turn. A 100% CLASS GUY. He deserved much better from racing.
