For anyone in the general Fort Worth, Texas area, on August 21st, Cowtown Speedway will be hosting a USAC/SMRS Midget show. They will also be hosting a group I belong to which will be displaying vintage open wheel oval cars. Included in this are Midgets; from a frame rail 1935 V8-60 Midget to a 1947 Kurtis Offy you have to see to believe, a 1939 Hillegas Offy, a 1967 Edmunds that currently races in vintage meets with an esslinger in it; and possibly a couple more. There will also be modified coupes, supermodifieds (the 100 inch sprinters), bodied modifieds, and a couple others. We have currently 20 -24 cars expected to be there, and we still have calls asking how to get involved. So, if you like current Midget racing, and a chance to see lot of open wheel history, this is an event you will want to attend. Check out Cowtown Speedway at this link: www.cowtownspeedway.com

Some midget photos would whet our appetites for the coming Monogram kits. Hint, Hint Patrick

I may try to make it. I didn't anything specific about it on the website. Is this the track at Kennendale?

yessir, one of the two now in Kennedale, and right next to each other. Cowtown is the northern most of the two. Watch the signs and make sure you don't end up at Kennedale Speedway. (they are so close, you can sit in the top row of Cowtown's bleachers, and watch most of the track at KSP.) The cars will be displayed just inside the spectator area. And don't be afraid to ask questions; all the owners are super friendly, and enjoy talking about old racing history and the cars.
