A Penske 1/2 at one of my favorite tracks. It was almost painful to watch...

At least it was Power and not Briscoe with the win.

Well, let's think about this. The fastest cars start at the front, They have the best pit crews, and if someone gets a run at them, they can push the "don't let them pass" button. Why is anyone suprised at the result. I can understand why very few people would pay to watch that crap. With the current rules the road racing sucks. The only thing worse is the street course racing which sucks with any rules package. Take Care Craig

This is a total lie!!!! The one poor thing about this forum is many of my posts have been removed or edited by one person for voicing my opinion. He will be called, The "Editing Nazi."

The stands looked very empty to me. No wonder cause the same damn team is winning every damn race. Again, didnt they supposedly start this series to foster the small teams and give them a chance to win a race. Well how in the hell can they against the might of the Penske, and Target Ganassi juggernaut. Where is the competition? Where is the side by side racing ?All the other teams might as well go home. No one but no one is going to win a race other than Penske/Target Ganassi. This farce called the IRL is a joke. No amount of tinkering of the rules will fix this. New cars, new engines, the same teams (Penske/Ganassi) will win all the races. "This is an "expletive* farce" Paul Stoddart 2005 USGP!

You guys are crazy. The racing was great and I am NOT a fan of Penske. There were some great battels going on all over.
Penske has had the poll how many times at the Glen and never won before last Sunday? You guys make it sound like you want a pass for the lead every single lap! Most races are won but the best car whether it be Penske or not. In fact I seem to remember a Penske getting passed for the lead last year and losing the race.
I know that the racing is not perfect but I sometimes wonder why some of you are even fans.

I thought the racing was very good, with a lot of passes, though, I agree, it does get very old seeing Penske and Ganassi dominate race after race.

You guys make it sound like you want a pass for the lead every single lap! Yeah, like what you see in fictional movie! 2 passes a lap, cars blowing up in a mushroom bomb, 4 wide at the checker, with a big fight at the end. I'm not talking about anyone on here but I've heard some real dummy's on other forums talk about this kinda stuff and they basically want to see what I said in the first paragraph. OK how about this.......... the racing is just fine, IMO If this was the 80's, the Penske cars would of most likely been long gone and almost lapped the field.......Well Im just saying ;D ...... they might of blown an engine, becuase at one time they use to do that. Ive said this too many times but its the story of the race is what most people talk about.

The Penske/Ganassi domination is in part a function of reliability. That's why I have suggested previously that you set some small dollar limit, say $10,000, for a motor and let try to get it to hang together for a race. Also, it doesn't help that we now have 3 Penske drivers instead of just 2.

You damn right I do, remember fontana 2001 and the champ car race there, 73 Lead changes a record that the IRL and Brian Barnhart can only dream of no matter what they do to the rules!
What? The best cars are Penske or Ganassi! The only reason Ryan Hunter Reay won Long beach is because Will power hit the pit speed limit button coming out of the hairpin,Power was running away with the race that day!
The story is Penske and Ganassi dominate every single race and the fans leave the stands, and we all wonder why this league is going to pot! Boring, no competition, no passing. It's sad that Tony George started this league to foster competition, and now he cowers in the corner knowing what he has created. No wonder the family kicked him off the IMS board of directors!

A simple solution for those that don’t like Indy car racing, DON’T WATCH IT!!!!! It's not that simple. Ask anyone here and they may tell you the racing purist in them gets them to watch, craving the chance to see our heroes come so close to the point of death and watch them conquer that; its exilerating as crazy as that seems. Racing is hard to get away from or stop watching.

Racing is hard to get away from or stop watching. You can say that again. I watch Indycar racing in the vain hope that someone besides Penske or Ganassi will win, just like I watch NASCAR in the hope that Jimmy Johnson won't finish the race.

Sorry but it is that simple, I don’t like nascar, so I don’t watch. Haven’t got much time for F1 ether so I don’t watch. If I disliked something as much as you guys say you do why on earth would I spend two plus hours if my time viewing it so I can whine on about “only two teams can win boo hoo” get a life you guys. Fact is in a team sport (which motor racing is) the teams with the most money have the best equipment; best engineers and get the best drivers and win most of the races. Motor sport has been like that for years. I think we should count our self’s lucky that there are two teams (and five drivers) fighting it out, say Chip decided to pull the plug this year. I don’t think could stand the whining when there’s a Penske 1, 2, 3 every race!!!

Alright guys - just fair warning that it is being watched. Let's keep it civil and Russ I was the one who deleted the post - it was a mix up so there were no Nazi's.

Gee, maybe I should have posted the I "kinda" hate Indycar racing. I watch all type of racing... F1, NASCAR, Rolex, ALMS. Hell, I even watched the Moto racing from Valencia this weekend. Don't tell anyone, but I've even watched off-road racing in a pinch...
How does that work in a so called "spec" series?

[Admin Edit - Jordan] ***No split talk - you know better Russ*** ***I picked editing the thread over locking it - PM me if you don't like my choice***The IRL was supposed to be started to give "American" Drivers a chance to racing in Indy Type Race Cars, sadly a time went on, that wasn't the case at all and now what do we have? The "IZOD-Open Wheel Penske/Ganassi Spec Racing Series." What we true racing fans would like is a TRUE RACING SERIES....No gimmicks like NASCAR has, no spec racing...just honest to God racing...Let the best man win......Like it used to be. Best to you! Russ I was the one who deleted the post - it was a mix up so there were no Nazi's. Jordan Okay Jordan, if you say so. You have always been fair and honest with me, so I'll take your word for it. But you have to admit, from some of the things I have sent you, Greggie has been on a power serge for sometime now, that's all.

Couldn't agree with you more. Racing was founded on competition, and the idea that if I decided to build a car and race in the IRL or any series for that matter; i could do so and win. Now the way things are in the IRL with same engine/chassis, how would I (again saying if i wanted to but really couldn't due to finances) be able to buy a car and engine and even hope of competing against the might of the Penske/Ganassi teams or any other team in the series for that matter; there's no reason to use the word "competition" in the same breath when mentioning the IRL.
Allowing all of the chassis suppliers who submitted drawings to become IRL chassis competitors against each other, now that would give us all a reason to watch wouldn't it?
I love this series with all of my heart, thats why it pains me so much to have seen what has happened with the split that broke open wheel racing as we know it.
