Hi all, I've just signed up after seeing the fantastic rebuild of a Tamiya James Hunt M23 over on F1M. I've been modelling since I was a lad, and have been a follower of F1 since 1979, I had built up quite a quite a diverse stash of models, however following a break up in my previous relationship I had a bit of a break from modelling, and started to dispose of my stash, mainly because I didn't have enough room to keep it all (and to liquidate some cash ) However I just couldn't bear to part with my Tamiya 1/20 F1 cars, I have got virtually every Tamiya release up until the Williams FW-24 and now that I've settled down, got married and have a baby on the way, hope to be able to crack on with getting the collection built. I know I won't have much time when the baby arrives in August, but my new wife Gill is very supportive of my hobby (even if she doesn't understand it ) I'm hoping to convert my existing or build a new shed as a workshop space. It's great to see the other Japanese manufacturers picking up on the 1/20 F1 scene, I've recently picked up a Hasegawa Ferrari 312T2 and I'm really looking forward to getting the Fujimi Williams Fw-16 and FW-14B at some point. Hope to follow some of the excellent builds I've seen here and will try to contribute some myself. Happy modelling Ant

Great to have you here! Can't wait to see what you build. Congrats on the upcoming event! The great thing about kids is that they only get older and more expensive!

Ant,
Not too worry, most of our wives don't understand "our" hobby. Mine didn't until she had an art appraiser at our home for insurance reasons.
She has many original art pieces hanging on the walls of our home. The appraiser was her looking at her art...when he came through and saw my office, and saw what I had hanging on my wall. I have many autographed photos of past Indy 500 Champions and piece of artwork given to me by Parnelli Jones and Dan Gurney. Then he saw a small stack of unbuilt model kits and he was really impressed, so was my wife at his reaction. Then he saw my built ups and went nuts. Seems the fellow was a model builder as well, and knew of my work.
She now refers to my unbuilt model stack as "Our Investments" and she no longer growls when she passes my office. Seems my automobile art work was more valuable than her "originals."
Welcome aboard and best to you!

Welcome Ant. F1 rules in my heart abet mostly in the 1960s and 1970s. My partner doesn't really understand the passion necessary to be a modeler. She does however let me pursue what I do to little plastic toys from Hong Kong.
