Is that the 1/12 Tamiya Lotus 49 or the Union/Heller 1/25?

I doubt it is the Heller and it has the decals of the Tamiya 1/12. The tires have that definite Tamiya sag! ;D

Only 5 dollars for this kit ? LUCKY GUY ! there's a shop in São Paulo where this kit is for sale "only" for US$ 150,00 ( almost R$ 300,00 - US$ 1 = more or less R$ 2,00). The kit is a Tamiya 1/12 scale, and except for the tires, looks in very good condition.

Hey Chris,
You have the Ferrari 1512 F1 in 1/12! You are the luckiest man! Tires...well, a problem, but the possibilities at scratch building the most fantastic 1.5 liter F1 are open! This is the only model that would ever turn me from 1/24! Treat it with honor and respect!

Wow!!! lucky guys. Needless to say that if you don't want either the 1512 or this (yes, confirmed!) 1/12 Tamiya Lotus, they might find a home across the pond! ;D I am serious about the offers!!
Well, the melting of tyres is a phenomenon that happens, and it does in a varied array of ways and conditions. Things that can trigger this are heat, cold, and contact with ertain other materials. Sometimes it's the rubber that melts the rims, as happens with Protar Ferraris...

Patrick, you can find the lotus 49 on e-bay, i saw one for 39,00 few months ago. Also, try e-bay europe (France, preference), my Heller Lotus 49 was a trade with a guy few years ago. Except for the gearbox and tires (the same that comes with the Brabham BT33 ) the kit is very good.

You know I dont have the Mac Laren M7 McLaren version, I believe this was a Mac Donalds Happy meal offering!!!!!! LOL... If you want to sell a kit at rediculous rates at least get your act together and list it right!! Regarding the Ferrari 1512 1/12th, I got it from a friend for free and had been built but fortunately minimal amounts of adhesive were used and it has virtually fallen apart into all parts again over the years.. No Paint just parts and I will build it into a rightous F1 Ferrari 1512 in the near future..

Ozone and many airborne contaminates will Melt soft mostly natural Gum Rubber tires. I had my home termite tented when I bought it and removed all my model kits because I have seen this also melt the Tires, glass and other parts in many import kits, which I do have many!!!

Is that the 1/12 Tamiya Lotus 49 or the Union/Heller 1/25? Jordan At first, looking at those warped tires, I would have bet that this is the Bandai version. I have one of them and the tires did exactly the same thing. The Bandai kit, however, has six spoke wheels, while the Tamiya is four spoke. But I've never seen Tamiya tires warp like that before. pbh

I have! My 312B, Porsche 910, & several Lotus kits all suffered the dreaded "melting tires".
