Hi! I'm new to this forum, I discovered this site yesterday via F1m.com. I've been around this modelling hobby from early eighties since I was little kid. Not to mention the great formula one champion Keke Rosberg had inspired me to build modelkits. Usually he had inspired other kids to drive Karts ;D. So, I discovered at local "K-mart" some Tamiya produced formula model kits. I scored Tamiya's Brabham bt50, Renault re30b and Ligier js11 in little time and bashed them completed to thrash can few years later. Must have been something to do with teenage, blasts! I started building kits again in year 2000 and luckily managed to collect kits mentioned earlier through the years. Nowadays I have 28 Tamiya's 1:20 grand prix collection kits, six of them unbuilt. Also have other brands of formulas and classic racing cars. I have Tamiya's big scale racers Ferrari 312t4 and Ferrari 641/2 (f190), too. Longtime project for me is to find a better place to have hobby and produce better quality builds. Long story short

Hello from San Francisco Bay Area ( the Hippy Curtain!)!!
Have you ever built the paper great models that come from Eastern Europe? We have discussed using the paper stock as templates for cutting plastic sheets.
You are a great addition to this group.

Welcome aboard!!!
Only six kits unbuilt? You make me feel excessive with my collection. I once had 2,500 unbuilt WWII Aircraft models in a walk in closet for fear they would go away.....that was before Tamiya and Hasagawa rediscovered WWII.
Unfortunately, I did the same thing with Indy Car Models. Again, good to have you here! One piece of advice on getting to be a better modeler....Take you time! That comes from my mentor, Bob Clidinst, the best craftsman I have ever known....and don't be afraid to try something different or a new technique. When you push yourself, you learn new ideas. The last one is when you come to something difficult, put the model down and walk away from it......the way to over come the difficulty will pass and you'll come up witha better idea.....Like the project I'm working on now.
Best to you!
Russ

Hey vekkuli!! nice to see you here too! It seems this week had a wave of newcomers from f1m. I -as probably you too- wonder how I hadn't met this forum yet! That's good thing, always possibility to find new things and people. During the shoet while I've been around, it well looks as a really kind set of open wheels enthousiasts! Welcome! BTW, Patrick, now you mention, I think some people at f1m has tried the paper models. About your question, I have my doubts: it depends on the plastic you use. But honestly, with, say, 1mm styrene it should work. I did my partila Penske like that, and some F1 in the past. That said, I think using Hotwheels diecasts is easier...
