Hello:
I just found out and joined this website through the F1M site and would like to introduce myself. My name is Gerald and got started building F1 cars in the early 1970's. I remember when the typical 1/12 Tamiya kit was around US$15.00 so that should tell all of you how old I am which is 49 years. I have a collection of F1 kits and accessories that I estimate I could never build even if I became independently wealthy and just built kits all day long.
My interests are the early 70's through early 2000's F1 cars. The current crop of F1 cars does nothing for me, unfortunately. I actually have built the 1/12 Tamiya Lotus 72D, Tyrrell 003 (both in pieces to be restored one day), Brabham BT44B, Ferrari 312T and the car that should be in everyone's collection, the 6 wheel Tyrrell.
My current interests are 1/20 scale kits which include the Studio 27 Brabham BT52 and the Lotus 80 which I have been working on for a couple of years and a superdetailed late version Ferrari F189 which I have decided to build as a display car with the body pieces separate (not meant to be attached) with only the engine connected to the monocoque.
Hopefully I can get some photos together but there is nothing relevant to show currently.
I am awaiting the Tamiya Lotus 79 from Macs Modeling. I actually bought 2 Fujimi FW16 kits but was not impressed with the kit so I traded one for another kit and outright sold the other FW16. Hopefully, the Tamiya Lotus 79 will be a winner.
Gerald
