I've never built any of the Revell Reynards and I'd like to build the 95 500 winner. Which kit gives me the best chance to get it right? Do they come with speedway and road course wings? BBS wheels? Oh yeah, I just bought some Zinardi decals, which kit for that car?
Thanks
John

Jordan!.......Jordan!!!!! were are you?!?! Well anyway....I used a Brian Herta Shell Reynard for my 1996 Bryant car. The car I had came with RC and Oval wings. I think the Revell Reynards are fun, I would love to a 1995 winner someday myself.

There are two different wheels out there - one of them is BBS, but I'm not sure which kit has them. All the kits come with Speedway and Road Course wings. To do an accurate 95 winner will still take quite a bit of mods to get it right - the 95 Reynard was more bulky. As for Zanardi - there was a Target kit issued that does a Zanardi car.

Isn't there a resin version of the 95 Reynard?

Eric Thanks, that's great stuff. I see your point about being on the shelf. If I don't have another to compare it to nobody will know what year it is. This really helps a lot. Thanks again.

Okay, I've got the Gurney Castrol car to use for the 95 winner. I'll get Michael's decals too. Are there any obvious things I need to do this kit to make it look the 95 winner? The one thing I noticed in Eric's photos were the winglets on the sidepods. Anything else? Thanks.

There is a few things that wouldn't be necessary for 1995 winner but this gives you an idea.

Sorry boys - I missed this one while I was on vacation last month ;D Standard disclaimer - I'm not a rivet counter but I'll give you advise on what is best. That said, it is your build and I fully support you building a kit however you want - this is just a hobby after all 98 specs are quite a bit different from the 95 so yes Bill's resin kit is preferred. The big thing to my eye is how high the sidepods are on the 98 relative to the 95. During the 90s the sidepods went from almost nothing to big side impact driver protectors which does show in these two models of Reynard. However a stock 98 Reynard kit built as a 95 is more than passable and 99% of the people that will see it wouldn't ever know you didn't use a 100% accurate kit. If you use a Revell kit for the '95 winner then the best starting point is to use either the Shell kit or the Castrol which has unchromed BBS wheels in the kit which would be easier to paint gold. Note that the Castrol kit might be preferred since that is the only Revell Reynard kit that comes with Goodyear tire decals. Now onto the Zanardi question. What do these decals look like? I've never seen an aftermarket Zanardi sheet!?! The Target kit from Revell does the Zanardi car but only has driver decals for Vasser - sadly on team cars Revell tended to do only driver decals for only one of the drivers. So a Zanardi car has to be done without driver or sans the right decals for his helmet. You might have gotten a set of the Revell decals - I can't say for sure without seeing it. The best kit to do Zanardi's ride is the Target kit as it has the OZ style wheels and they are already chromed. The Visteon kit is the only other Revell kit that came with OZ wheels but this kit's OZ wheels do not come chromed (unless the QC guy was asleep lol) Anymore questions? If so, just shoot away! Jordan

Thanks for the help guys. There won't be any rivet counters looking at this build but I did want to do a decent job anyway. You've given me enough to go on for now. If I need any more info I know where to go.
