What's in the box? Does the kit represent any specific race car? Is there any engine or chassis details. Any useable parts? I know that it hails from the dawn of plastic models, but it can be had for less than $ 20. Is it worth getting at that price?

The version of the Filter Queen Spl. is correct as issued except for wheels and tires, but the kit tires look acceptable. This car was Raced in 1956 and driven by Roger Ward. The Year before 1955 the car was painted an off white and was the Walsh Spl. #9 this is the car monogram used as the base for there original issue of this model the only thing they change was the name form Walsh to Monogram. The car in 1955 was driven by Spider Webb but did not qualify for the race. In 1954 Jim Rathmann drove this car when it was the Bardahl Spl. #38 In 1957 Ed Walsh sold the car and it became the Sclavi & Amos Spl. #55 driven be Eddie Russo. In 1958 the car was rebuilt by Eddie Kuzma. The car was entered up to 1962 but never qualify after 1957. This is a basic kit but you can make many car off this kit with mod including the 1955 John Zink Spl. If you look at Lance Sellers web site you can see some of the models I have made from this kit. The #22 D A Spl. and the #99 Belanger Spl. I hope this helps you and good luck building any of these cars

It has a grille that was peculiar to the Walsh car, a low-cut cockpit side that was less common than the higher version, a million louvers not seen on other cars, and a couple of off-beat air scoops. The detail is on the heavy side and unless you want to put a lot of work into the engine, treat it as a flange for mounting the exhaust and keep the hood down.
That said, I really enjoy it, it's a great throw-back to the good old days and as someone on this forum said, it's a great canvas for slapping on Indycals or Cady decals and upgraded wheels and tires. If you can find on glue bomb you can steal from the hood to build the high side cockpit.
