Roberto Guerrero's 1992 Quaker State Lola Buick Indianapolis 500 pole winning car. Using a Buddy Lazier 1/18 scale Minichamps roadcourse version car as the donor I reshaped the roll hoop, engine cover and sidepods to the proper stlye. I also custom build the front and rear wings and added a driver figure. These King Motorsports cars were very neat, but this one didn't turn a lap on race day. Guerrero's crash before the start set up what was to be a very bizzare day at Indy in 1992 with Little Al capturing his first Indy win!! Attachments:

I remember that day John! We were sitting in a drive way sweating like crazy and drinking a few brewski's. With-in twenty minutes the temperature dropped 30 degrees! That was a very cold Indy and some crazy things happened. I will never forget hearing that Roberto crashed on the warm up lap before the race even started.
Great conversion!

I listened to Eddie Cheever on my scanner that day and he was very amusing when RG crashed. First it was, "Where did Roberto go, he disappeared?" and it evolved to "This is the Indianapolus 500 and the pole sitter is not allowed to crash. This can't happen. What am I supposed to do now?" Eddie was always good for a laugh. Cold? I had my nomex underwear and double layer fueler suit on at 6AM and still shivered all day. Every sweatshirt and jacket sold out at the track and it was just an awful day.

In the 25 Indy 500s I've attended, that was my least favorite.

So cold my family was drinking coffee "that tastes like dirt" from the local rotary or some such just to stay warm.
