Last Sunday, May 2 I had the pleasure of hitching a ride with my good friend Herb Deeks as he and I went to the 2010 So. Cal. NNL hosted by our own, Chris Hale. This was the 28th version of this event and I can hardly think there has been one better. Outstanding job Chris & Co.!!!
My day started at 6:15 AM when Herb pulled up in front of my hose in this wonderful beast! His semi-restored 1956, Dodger Sierra Wagon. I LOVE THIS BEAST!!! We got there in a hour and plenty of people honking horns at us.
Once we got there, we unpacked the wagon....Some thought is was a Studebaker? When it says Dodge all over it?
Once inside we had the best spot inside the building, right next to where everyone came in and very close to the men's room.
\\Also, outside there were several hundred of classic Chevys...This was a very well organized event...with great food!
Our host Chris Hale did a fantastic job on a old IMC1/24 scale Ford GT 40. Nice work Chris!!!
I spoke to this one modeler, (I wrote down his name and I can't find it!), who has MS who build this AMT 87 Winner. The photo doesn't do it justice. He also build this Monogram Chaparral....nicely done!
Also, among the classic Chevy's was this Tamiya Lotus!
One mind blown model was Dale King's 52 Cooper III which was totally scratch built....This car was beautiful to say the least!
I also had some models there and was surprised when Model Car and Scale Auto Enthusiast wanted to shoot photos of all four!
my 1921 Winner
Lance Sellers Novi
And my 1964 Bobby Marshman's Pure Firebird Special
One thing about Car Shows in a warm So.California, the women wear very little and out of some self control, I will not post the here.
Although not many open wheel race cars, this was a fun event!Chris, great job and it was relaxing and non-eventful I can't recall when I have met a nice group of modelers.
Best to you!!
