I am working on a less exacting project and one somewhat more relaxing. I love the Zink Turbine car but lack the right parts to make one right now so I'm making a phantom car using many ideas from what parts I have around (in my "bottomless' spares box!). I thought I'd start with the turbine engine first. So into the spares box I dive and surface with a Lotus turbine and a Howmet turbine...oh and some small pieces of photo etch I picked up at the model railroad counter. This was the plan...in my head... this was the first assembly as I expected it to be... ...it didn't quite look right compared to the Zink engine so I sliced and diced... ...and came up with this configuration. This looked about right for me. I used this nice drawing as a guide to what could be done... ...and these photos of the Zink car... NEXT...the body! "Lay on MacDuff and damned be he that first cries, "Hold! Enough!" Patrick

I can't wait to see what you're up to with this. You're a creative modeler and this will get interesting.

The almost perfect body to use for the Zink car, or any rear-engine car, would be the Revell Lotus 25 slot car. I've got one, which I'm building up as Clark's F-1 car, but the body is way too wide for a F-1 car, it's wider than the AMT or IMC Indy Lotuses. But the Zink car has a very Lotus like nose cone and the wide body is close the Zink car.

Great idea on the Revell Lotus 25. Interestingly I've learned that the Zink car was built from or based on a Lotus Mk21, some say a Lotus Mk18!
