Could someone point me to where I could purchase the M@r1b0r0 conversion decals for the '93 and '94 Minichamps Indy 500 winner cars in 1/18th? They're a tad difficult to find. Thanks!

Trevor - I see them on ebay every once in a while. I am sure a certain popular Indy Car decal maker that we all know could help you too but you can't mention the "M" word. The "M" people don't take kindly to their name/logo being sold without thier permission. If you don't want to go that route you can buy them from Patto's Place. They are rather expensive and I heard thier quality has improved. ( I Cannot verify that however) members.optusnet.com.au/pattosplace/home.htmlStu

Trevor, if you click on the letter "I" in the Patto's web site you will find them.

Trevor, if you click on the letter "I" in the Patto's web site you will find them. Yep, they have them but not in 1/18th. I've searched on ebay a few times but most that I find seem to be for motorcycles. Thanks for the link though.

Have any of you gone through a Penske museum ? You can take all the pictures you want, but none can show even a red and white paint scheme let alone the cigarette logo.

For us that dont have an ALPS Printer the M@r1b0r0 logos are easy to make with your own home made Ink jet decals. I threw around the idea of making an 89 winner. So I messed around with these home made decals that I did on the very high tech Microsoft paint

They just don't have the link up. They are somewhat hard to work with and they aren't cheap to buy. Jim

It looks like I need a set for 2000, 2003 and 2006. I found a guy on ebay that sold decals and inquired if he had any for the 93 and 94. He did and myself and another member here (I'll let him disclose that he has them if he likes....its not Michael though) bought everything he had left. I only kept enough to do my 93 and 94. The guy also sold me a set claiming it to be 2003 but its either 04 or 05. Duh, just realized it probably has a lot of decals I need to do an 06.
Thanks for the assistance from everyone.

Ok, need to ask for more advice. I successfully removed the Penske decals from these two cars tonight except for on the rear wing. I did mess the paint a bit on the Emmo car but I can fix it.
It was recommended that to remove the decal on the plastic rear wings that I use toothpaste. That worked on some of the parts on my Montoya conversion but not much luck with the Penskes. Any other ideas to remove the decals without damaging the plastic?

trevor, I'll tell you where you can get them but can't print his name HERE. On the rear wing decal removal, take a piece of white vinyl & just cover the original decal, then apply the new M@r1b0r0 over top. I do it to all my Penske cars. I'll PM you with the link.

I already have white decal paper. Will that cover up the old Penske logo or will it show thru?

Trevor, I have done a lot of these conversions over the past few years. I have done a couple of different techniques. 1.) I carefully remove the tampo Penske with non-acetone fingernail polish remover than I take white decal paper and cut three sheets exactly the same to fit over the rear wing. This will cover and look good but you will need to do this at least two pieces of decal sheet on the wing. The other method I have done is removed the Penske tampo and masked off the wing with masking tape and painted it white. This of course worked the best and looked the best but not too much different from the decal paper cover up. Goodluck and they will look great.

Ha, you weren't kidding about needing more than one piece. I cut one just about perfect. I went to lay it on the piece and it was flimsy as hell and laid on itself. Plus I could see right thru it. It didn't turn out well so I moved over to the other car to finish the easy decals. Not sure which way I'm going to go right now. All I have left if the rear wing of each car. I tried rubbing off the wing decals with all kinds of concoctions and nothing was working well. I finally just scratched them off with a hobby knife. The 93 one was ugly but the 94 pretty much flaked off and looks good underneath. Thanks for everyone's advice so far, almost done.

Finally finished. Vinyl did the trick. I'm having difficulty posting pictures. They are hosted on my Picasa site.
