Here's a RACER magazine article about Bernard announcing some major changes: www.racer.com/major-changes-ahead-for-indycar/article/168307/So if you were are former Pro Bull Riders Assoc CEO, what changes would you make? I think they need at least one more 500 mile race besides Indy. You know, the 500 used to be an endurance race, now its more of a sprint race. That's one thing I miss. I hoped I not banned from the forums for suggesting this, but what if they had 600 or 700 mile race somewhere?

One thing I was thinking about is the points scoring. In an Indy race, they never mention points during the race and rarely if ever mention how many points for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. I think I prefer F1 scoring a bit better. I like the fact that there is a cutoff to the points in F1. Also, maybe they could implement team points with the top 2 cars earning points toward a team championship.

PLEASE NO POINTS CHASE/PLAYOFF!!! I would love some more 500s though - get Michigan or Fontana back I do like the idea of longer races. I'd get more eye rolls from the wife but more racing is a good thing, right!?!? Jordan

I agree. The NASCAR chase is a joke. Frankly I could care less about a series champion. Each race is it's own individual championship.

Presupposing they can't get Michigan or Fontana, what would be the next best choice for a 500 on the existing calendar? Supposedly the next "premier" oval after Indy could be Texas but that place is too nuts for such a long race. If they picked another track for a 500 miler, Eddie Gossage might not like it.

I'm with you, no playoffs! No matter how you try to crunch the numbers you cant always get close championship finishes. I dont see anything wrong with the current system.
As for 500 mile races, bring them on! I love them!
If they have 3 500's and the series stays in N America, I'll be one happy camper.
Also combining the history of CART USAC and AAA with the IRL needs to be done.

I agree 100 % Michael, but am i wrong in asking the last few title fights in the IRL were decided in the last 1 to 2 races? Drag racing in 06' and 07' had their top fuel and funny car titles decided at the last event and the last run of the season? Anyone remember the 06' top fuel title was decided by one point when Tony Schumacher ran a then record et of 4.428 on the final run of the final event of the season? and would do the same thing the following year beating Hot Rod Fuller The IRL should leave things the way that they are points wise. As far as a triple crown set of races goes, that would be great. Besides, california has a nice track out here considering the fatest race ever was run here in '03.

They need to finish up the season with one of these 500 milers and for it to be televised on ABC if possible. Do they need to end the season before the NFL season kicks-off?

NASCAR forgot the old adage , "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" and totally screwed things up with the chase for points. Whom, ever thought that was a good idea should have their brains in a jar! If I were a broken down old cowboy, here's what I'd do with the IZOD IRL. Go get Milwaukee, Pocono, Phoenix, California, Watkins Glen and Michigan back of the schedule. Lose Belle Island, Cleveland and the awful South America Race. Adjust the points to make a bigger difference between winning and coming in second. I'm sorry, the big teams need to handicapped a bit so that they can't buy a title anymore. Encourage a few more American born Drivers to try this league from NASCAR. Lose a few of the lousy street courses and add a few more ovals and hings would be fine. Best to you! Russ

One other thing.........
I'd lose the wings and have them put the engines back up front!
Best to you!

I agree... a triple crown of 500 milers would be sweet! Maybe Califorina, Phoenix or Pocono?
If I were the cowboy in charge: 1. lose the street courses, but keep the dedicated road courses 2. run flat bottoms on the cars and decrease the size of the wings 3. open the chassis rules to include... well... everybody 4. open the engine rules to include... well... everything 5. DON"T SCREW WITH THE POINTS
Or just roll all the rules back to the early 80's...

When the conversation comes up about how to change the cars....its almost a no win situation IMO Im saying this in a realistic point of view.

Blaming the cars is too easy. It's a combination of things that go back to you know when.
