According to what I have read...this is Rufus at Ontario (a practice run) and it is a "copy" 56 using parts from the spares box...sorts just like us! ;D

Even before reading Patrick's post, my first thought was that it looked like Parnelli.

Yes, it's Rufus Parnel Jones in the same Lotus 56 Turbine that Joe Leonard drove for him and that Mario Andretti knocked out he and Art Pollard of the Rex Mays Classic at Riverside in 1968. Seems Mr. Jones liked to drive it around Ontairo at times.

I find it interesting that it's shod with slicks. I thought Indy cars ran through about 1971 on treaded tires.

The car does say "Parnelli Jones" on it lol But the name on the side of cockpit next to the champion spark plug logo sure doesn't say Parnell Jones? You would think thats were they put the drivers name normally?
