Hi Guys..been away awhile, built a few hot rods...etc. Now I am back to a Indy subject..so I thought you all might find interest in it. The old MPC kit.. Got the body in the primering stages..and the engine done with some weathering...showing that it has a few miles on now. More soon..thanks for looking. Ron

Very nice. I built mine about 15 years ago, and I've gotten better since then.

Trevor..I used a "wash" from MIG. I will be starting the 95 pace car in a couple of weeks, and I will do a more in depth process if you'd like..its really nothing to it... Ron

I've been away along time, just as I was getting to know you guys... I vanished! Haha. I will be more active these days, I had a lot happen the summer of 2010 and ironically in the middle of this very build here, which is why I choose to post this update here. I did finish this build shortly after the last update, and I never got to show you how I did panel lines, and for those interested I'm very sorry!! By now you've probably figured it out and are better than me at it, haha. I will post the completed pics of this Vette, it's been in a glass case since completed in 2010 and looks just as good! Thank you for glass cases to fight off dust!

Hi Ron, welcome back after your hiatus, Love this '86 pace car, and really like the C3 gen Corvette, I am amazed at the run that generation had, 1984 - 1996, amazing the shape of the car, remained relatively unchanged during that 12 year run, and the pace car driver, General Chuck Yeager, what a living legend!

Absolutely this is actually a C4 but exactly 84-96 is a long time. I owned a 84 and like most first year runs.. It was swamped with issues, but it was already 14 yrs old by the time I purchased it. Got rid of it now my wife and I own a 1979 L82 which was another long and successful generation 1968/1982.

...let me also say that I have 2 still in the plastic 1978 Indy pace cars, which of course was the L-82 Vette and I plan on building a pace car with one and a replica of our 1979 Vette with the other..only thing I have to work out is the wing, the 1978 pace car had a sorda 70's camaro still wing that was actually seperate pieces from the body and my 1:1 has a molded wing which is all one rear piece.

Thank you! I just ordered from IndyCals, the 1986 winner decals to go on one of the AMT 86 Indy car's I have, once they get here, I will start that build and open a thread for the build up. Ron

Somehow I missed this a couple weeks ago. Looks great, Ron! You did a great job with that kit. You will really like that '86 winner. A few adjustments are necessary from the kit, but it's well worth it.
