While waiting to commit suicide over my Old Calhoun build. I've been spending time work on a pattern of an old Indy Winner......To be cast in resin by our good friend Lance Sellers...Should be ready in a week or two. It's rough, I know, but wait... Best to you! Russ

If my eyes do not deceive me, that is a Maserati Boyle Spl., perhaps the most beautiful car I've ever seen. You can definitely count me in for one.

Man Russ that looks good ;D I can't wait to see it built up one day (though it going to casting will delay that final gratification for a while). You sure are a great contributor to the hobby!

OH HOW I AGREE WITH YOU!!!!!This ugly SOB is I, in 1994 standing next to my personal, favorite Indy Car of all-time! When I was 13 during the month of May, I was home sick as a dog, listening to Sid Collins broadcast the 500. My older brother had gone to high school with David "Swede" Savage and my whole family was interested in what was happening at Indy that year. My mother went to the local library and asked me what book I wanted her to bring home. I asked for anything on the history of the Indianapolis 500. Luck would have it, she brought home to me. perhaps the best book ever written on the subject of the 500, "The Illustrated History of the Indianapolis 500," by Jack C. Fox. I sat there reading this wondrous book, stopping and looking at a full page photo of a man I had heard my grandfather speak of many times, Wilbur Shaw. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CAR!!!! Even in old Black & White Photos, it was sexy!!! I swore that someday I would have a model of that car!....Soon, we all will. By the way, in 1988 the Library was having a used book sale and bought that same copy of the book for all of $5.00. Best to you! Russ

Russ: I would highly recommend "Umbrella Mike" by Brock Yates---The True Story of a heroic racecar driver who managed to thwart a Chicago mobster. It's all about Mike Boyle,Wilbur Shaw and Joel Thorne and the '40's Indy racing scene including the Vanderbilt Cup. If you haven't read it, send me your address and I'll mail it to you. I promise;you'll love it. Also, an update on the '30 winner for the HOF. Still learning how to upload photos(the wife is helping) but I have some shots I'll post soon. I also jumped into the '35 winner because I've had that kit for a while. It is a " _itch" to get both of them to 1/25th scale but I'm enjoying myself. Using SE Finecast wheels for both and got a Bugatti on E-Bay to use for hood belts (like your '21 winner). Great; now I have a Bugatti to build...oh well, as so many others here have said: "It's an addiction". Best to you,Russ! Tim
