Black Paint from Testors is the probalme. ;D Use Dupicolor Universal Black (it's Lacquer) and it dries very fast. I no longer use any of the Testors spray colors, (haven't for years now) since they DO take so long to dry.
If you have a food dehydrator, it will help immensely on drying the Testors!

I'm heading out to get a can of that and a can of DupliColor Bright White, per Russ for the Old Calhoun.

Can anyone explain why black paint takes so long to cure? I used the Testors Gloss Black and it's a bit sticky to the touch even after 2 days. Tamiya, Tamiya, Tamiya. Testors enamel takes a few weeks to cure properly.

The Tamiya Black paint that I used came out more on the satin finish side as opposed to the high glossy finish of the Testors. That's why I used the Testors. Does the Tamiya get glossier by the 3rd coat?

Does the Tamiya get glossier by the 3rd coat? Three Light coats gets the job done...plus I always clear coat everyone of my builds w/decals on.......then if need I wax the car and of course after the clear.

OK, look for that to be the theme for the Provimi car. Pictures of that are coming soon.

Just to let you know from my experience its best to paint Tamiya in at least 80 Deg. with 3 light coats....1 light dust coat.....let sit for 5 mins.....then do a 2nd semi light coat....let sit for 5mins.....then do coat #3 which would be the heaviest coat, just enough to give it that gloss look. Then leave it alone for 3 hrs

Does the Tamiya get glossier by the 3rd coat? Sure you were using TS14 Gloss Black and not TS29 Semi-Gloss Black? In either case you can polish it up.

Your paint jobs always look great. 80 degrees in my basement in Northern Illinois this time of year will be hard to achieve but I'll come up with something.

I have noticed that some people will paint their models in flat colors then polish them and/or add clear coat or Future. I;ve never done that but I assume that gives it the shiny look.

Minor setback. I had a painting faux pas. Its in the "Not Bragging" thread. Suffice it to say I have a little work to do. But I am putting the decals on the engine cover and wings. I love doing decals. It gives me a sense of seeing the finish line.

Are you having fun watching paint dry today? To bad that had to happen.....Testors black never gave me to much problems, just all the other colors. But I should take some blame for your mistake since I was beating your brain with the Tamiya Paint talk so much the other day.

One of the credos that a martial artist lives by is keeping his focus, and I lost mine. So I will have a decent but not great looking build.

Just a quick update: I've been busy with work and hockey, which is keeping me from completing this in the timely fashion that I had hoped for.
That said, the paint came out pretty decent and the decals will be done by this weekend. So with a little patience, I will have some pics soon. I promise.
