I was wondering if any of you have tried some of the paper models that have been listed on eBay. The kits (usually 2-3 pieces of heavy grade paper) offer some of the cars that have never been mass produced in plastic or resin. I have collected a number of these and intend to use the paper as a blueprint for constructing the bodies using sheet plastic instead of paper. I will then fill in the small bits and pieces using parts from my junk drawer. I'm currently working on a Brabham BT-48. I will post pixs if anyone is interested.

Sure, post away! I've thought about them a few times, butnever took the plunge. Also, great idea using them for patterns.

Just for reference, Here is a link to Half Moon Hobbies. They carry quite a few of these kits. www.rebeccasworkshop.com/The "old page" PKAA has most of the kits they carry. The new page only has a few kits listed so far. If you go to the new page and click on one of the cars, at the bottom of the listing is a referece about 1/12 scale cars being available, but the web pages are not available yet.

Knowing that the BT48 is only modelled in 1/24 by Western Models(metal), building the car out of sheet plastic while using the paper model as the template is the best way to have it in your collection(that's how I will do it!) . However where do we get tires for the model? Everything else could easily come from the spares box. Please do the pre-work for me and show us( I am lazy! LOL).

As promised, here is a pix of what I've got so far for the Brabham BT-48. All of this was done using the paper instructions as a pattern to cut sheet plastic. It seems to work fairly well.

How about all of us die-hard palstic modelers pick up one of these paper models for a "Paper Car Challenge"?
