WHAT A PIECE OF (expletive deleted)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the worst model I have had the misfortune of ever building! A truly lousy kit of of a great race car. This is a 1/20 scale Revival kit of the Ferrari 156 Shake nose that was driven by American Phil Hill to the F-1 World Driving Championship in 1961. I bough this kit many years ago at a Kit Collectors show in Buena Park. I have always like this car!
After building this kit, I'll never build another Revival kit as long as I live! What a mess! Every time I touched this kit, which is engineered poorly, something would break off it! The carburetor assembly alone was broken off 5-6 times. Although the engine is nice and complete, the ease of build was miserable! Nothing fit properly! I MEAN NOTHING!!! The only good thing I can say about this kit is that it is big enough at 1/20th scale, to make the re-do's that you'll have to do some what easy to do. But too much time was spent re-attaching stuff already done! And the decals fell apart in teh water, so I had to raid the decal spar parts for replacements.
At Dick Wallen's book premier, "Roar of the 1960's" at the Petersen Auto Gallery in Beverly Hills, I met many of my driving heroes, one of which was Phil Hill. I took the belly pan of this kit along with me hoping Phil Hill would be there, which I heard he was going to be. After spending time talking to many old drivers, I notice Phil Hill sitting alone at a table. I went up to Mr. Hill and asked him to sign the belly pan of this kit, which he did once he heard where I bought the kit. Seems an Auto Gallery here in Los Angeles owed him a great deal of money for things he had signed before, some of which were models. He was nice and gracious...
and signed the btoom of the kit for me....If he hadn't of done that, this POS would have hit the trash can yesterday!
Best to you all!
