This is the other half of the project I started 2 weeks ago. These six cars are going to a team and will need to be completed by May. I have extended the side pods, put the center whicker and nose transponder box, notched the side pods so the side pod extends fit better and have removed the camera pod. In the back ground you can see the masters for my mirrors and camera pods. Will be building the exhuasts dumps tonight and then will cast all parts in resin. Next step is moving the front wings to the correct position.

A man after my own heart! Great stuff! I have to remember to put that box on the nose next time!
I have only done the wicker down the nose once. It should actually go on last because it should overlap the nose decals. I am always scared of messing up the paint or decals when it's glued on so I end up leaving it off.
Eric, can you give us a clue to the car or race team?

I'm guessing at least one will be a Buddy Lazier car...:-) Tom T.

Stu,
It actually works out better to put the wicker on first and then do all of the paint work. When putting on the decals I will cut them up the middle and put them on each side of the wicker. That is how they are done on the actual car based on information from a team member.
I can't say which team yet but will let you guess as the cars come along. The team did send me all of the art work to be able to have the decals made. I have a feeling once you see them in paint you will be able to guess pretty quickly tho. The cars are not all from this years 2010 race. Four will be this years car and 2 will be the team car from last year. Unfortunately none of thse will be Buddy Lazier's car but I am doing his 2008 500 car in 1/24 and 1/12 using the hotwheels cars as donors.
One member of this board knows of this project and who they are for and they better not say... right Kevin

What kind of glue do you use for the Plastic (wicker) to metal bond?

Just using super glue.Works very well. I actually attached the front extension to the side pods and then sanded to shape. Only had one give way and that is because I was not careful. Once I use the selfetching primer it will help even more.

Here is the latest. I have removed the front wings. Once the front wings were removed I notched the body to accept the brass plate that will support the wings. I reattached the front wing mounts and slid the brass plate into place. Since these cars will be mounted to a base the plate will not be visible and will be hidden by the wing itself. The front wings will actually be mount a little further forward on the plates than what the picture shows(just wanted to get an idea of how things will look. The front wings will not be mounted untill all of the body and paint work is done. They will be attched with adhesive. Will post more pics tomorrow.

Cars are now all painted. These pictures will surely give it away as to whom these cars are for. The Panoz is just for fun but is a Lazier car...just not Buddy. A bunch of front and rear wheel and tire sets just waiting to have the Great Indycals tire decals applied. Seats and headrests are flocked. And the Lazier Panoz

Does Buddy L. have anything going for Indy? It still dazzles me that Rice and Lazier, former winners, are out in the cold. I know why but...
