After thinking it over for a while I decided to do my first Fujimi F1 model. I Ordered it on Sunday and Got it today.....and I've already dug in and got a few things done this evening on it! After looking everything over, its not that bad of a model, looks good, has pretty good detail. There is a few things that I'm not going to follow the instructions on. But over all its good. This is the car that Gilles Villeneuve won his last race in. He won in a fantastic battle toward the end between Jacques Laffite, John Watson, Carlos Reuteman, and Elio de Anglelis. They were all within 1.25 of each other at the Finnish! If everything goes good I'm thinking about entering this into next months model car contest at the local Hobby store. But without further ado.........lets get going! Nothing is better than a fresh brand new Model I usually like to glue as many peaces together that are painted the same color, I like to glue on a nice clean surface. In this picture I don't have the top an Bottom glued yet, I'm just test fitting. After test fitting the body over the tub, I found that the top portion of the fuel tank is a little too tall, so I sanded the top cover peace and I also sanded the top of the tank. I think I jumped the gun a little on this part....I glued the tub to the floor pan, the floor pan as far as I can see needs to be black. The tub will be painted Aluminum (I use testors Chrome) Now this part of the instructions I totally disagree with, they want the lower suspension to be glued to the floor pan?......well the problem is, there is No reference point to glue onto the floor pan. I would just be eye balling it. It would be impossible to get it lined up! So, instead I glued it onto the bottom of the trans axle were it belongs and plus its easier. Nothing fun but I had to sand a little to front bottom of the body. I will have more updates later......

Here is the latest thus far... I have most of the engine area done, I just need to do some clean up... The top half of the tub is holding me up, I had some trouble with painting it, the Testors Chrome paint is not forgiving at all It doesn't go on in light coat that well. It only seems to cover properly if you put it on heavy all at once? I dont know? I'm going to redo it But when you do it right it comes out looking like my Williams FW07 tub ......Im trying to remember how I did that one? LOL The engine area is not done yet....I still have a lot to do....The main reason I went ahead and got the engine put in is to make sure the body was going to fit properly....... and all that good stuff BTW Im going to fix my Ferrari Logos on the covers, I painted those at 2 o clock in the morning and it shows LOL ......what can I say, its tough! I painted the engine block Silver mixed with gold and a little yellow. After it dried I brushed on a flat back Wash. To Weather it up! I painted the Rear end and Turbos Model Masters Gunmetal, the Exhaust pipes are Model Masters Stainless, the plate under the Pipes is covered in Bare Metal Foil "Ultra Chrome" the valve covers are Tamiya Bright red, and the rest of the Aluminum parts was done with Testors Chrome. Here is the final test fit before I start painting the body, I already have the body all scuffed up (taking the shine off) so the paint will stick.

Next I did the silver over red plastic trick that Michael taught us. In case you forgot Tamiya White Primer can not cover the red plastic, it will remain with a pink hue to it and this is for white painted areas. Basically with the Tamiya silver going on first before the White Primer it will cancel out the red altogether and then the Tamiya Primer can properly cover with no problems to get that nice clean white surface. After the Silver dried I put two coats of white primer on....then a coat of Matt White, mostly in the cockpit area. After the it dried I masked off the white and......... Sprayed on the Beautifully Tamiya TS-49 Bright Red, my favorite red! It came out pretty good. I dont know what it is but my red paint jobs usually come out good. After 24hrs I will put the Indycals on! The Funnest Part of a build!

Those Indycals are on now! Glade to have them, especially since the Stock Fujimi sheet has the Michelin logos looking wrong and other things.... Everything went on very fast and uneventfully, which is good. But I did screw up I realized I put the mirrors on upside down But its not that bad. I've really had a fun time working on this car! Plus I've been in a F1 mood lately anyway.

Very nicely done. I wish this was a 1/24 kit. I'm going to have to bash one from a Politoys die-cast. Patrick

I especially like the tub treatment. GThanks, but man, I had my share of troubles with it (painting the tub). The aluminum job on my FW07 is still the best. This one got dust on it, and plus I had to redo it two times prior. Chrome paint is tough to get right.

It is an original release, with all the hoses and wiring, the box is getting very *worn* now. I have a new re-release of the same kit, but haven't checked to see if it has the same hoses and wiring....... Mongo
