Well, here's another old project from yesteryear. This Cooper started out as a Russkit slot car body...not too bad, but the windscreen and nose had to be modified. This isn't going to be open engine bay, but some shows in the lower portions of the body. The Coventry-Climax V8 was bashed from the old reliable 90* 4-cam Ford with new intake manifold and solder "bundle of snakes" exhaust. It helps to have a good resource, so Doug Nye's Cooper book is a must. especially for the details. The space frame chassis was glued together in about 1 hour using a simple method of gluing 1/16" rod onto flat sheets of plastic. Use Tenax-7R for this as it works very quickly and makes a great bond. The front suspension is the usual Cooper type that I get from an MPC Hardcastle & McCormoric Coyote. The dampers (shocks!) used are sometimes hand made, sometimes spares box with springs from cheap, student supplied, mechanical pencils( there are different sizes in different pencils). Next will be the rear chassis/suspension and fitting the tire/wheel units.

This time the wheels are finished... the rear chassis is glued into place... after the chassis is painted, a test fitting is in order... the dampers are painted Koni red and silver wire is wound around a piece from a Tamiya Lotus Super 7 the front suspension came out very well... a test fit of the engine and it still fits! and we're ready for the discs and wheel/tyres! it is coming along great with not too many troubles, yet. I have been giving the Cooper a needed rest and have focused on 4 "Frankenstein" Ferraris. A 250 GTO (3) and 250 SWB (1). However, with some minor adjustments still to be made here is...Bruce McLaren's Monaco 1962 winner, the Cooper-Climax T60! A final fit. A typical early 60's F1 car. And Coventry-Climax's rise to power. Last fiddling will be the engine cover. However, everything fit very well for a project started 25 years ago and I expect no major problems with that fit. Well, next is Jack Brabham's 1st World Championship car...a Cooper T51. (Heads up, Russ) Patrick
