Here we go again! Another scratch build Guess what its going to be? Of Course, Very hard to tell as of now. But the clues are: It is an Indycar, and you are looking at the lower part of the Tub. I will add more and more as time goes along. There might be a prize for the winner? ;D I'm trying a different method of scratch building. If its the correct way or not, I will share with you all later ;D

5 letters so March, Lotus, and Eagle come to mind off hand. Then it is not a Chaparral, Penske, McLaren, Lola, or Coyote.

I'm second guessing myself on that 75 wildcat, well not really, I know the front end of the chassis is not wide enough.

I did this last night. Look past everything besides the actual shape......the different color shades and seam lines will mess with your eyes. I got the front nose built/sculpted. The front part of the chassis is almost done. The front nose is the only body work your seeing at this point. Once I paint the tub aluminum and put the old style carbon fiber on it will totally make sense to everyone.....trust me. On the front nose...that v shape on top is were the main body work will fit on top of. and the front nose is not glued onto the chassis...everything is going to be in separate parts...hopefully. Next I need to build the fuel tank.

If it is not the 1983 March 83C then I'm not going to get it - I'm not great with chassis nomenclature normally - especially when it is before my time! But '83 fit with the body over chassis years....

Jordan We have a winner! ;D I'm going to try casting this into resin later on. and Jordan since you're the winner...if I ever figure out this resin stuff I will send you a free 1983 March (if you want)

Chaparral, you're a braver man than me taking on a project like that. Believe me, I'd love to have a March 83C or two or six, but to start something that curvy from scratch is more than I want to take on! I can usually barely finish a kit when everything is handed to me!

IIRC one aftermarket company did the 83C as a resin chassis with a vacuform body.

Before I make the main body work I will, like I said I will build the fuel tank, then I will build the side pods.
I'm hopping I can make in individual peaces....but will see.
I'm going to make a 1983 Indy winner - Tom Sneva..... first. I'm a fan of Tom, actually the Sneva Family is still well known over here in the Spokane Area. When I talk with someone new over here, and I mention something about racing or indycar, Tom Sneva's name usually comes up. BTW I had a High School teacher that told me back in the 60's he traded in his Studebaker at the Sneva car lot to get some other car...then he later found out they used that same Studebaker for Tom's first race car.....which Tom wrecked it in his first race. LOL ;D

You need to finish that 82 Wildcat. You're teasing us with all these projects your starting and not finishing I'm sorry, I'm Sorry...Geezz. ;D I've hit a mental block on the 82 Wildcat.....I'm 2nd guessing myself on that one. Jumping around gives me an opportunity to maybe think of and idea to use on another car or learn something I could use on the car before. But On that Wildcat, Im 2nd guessing myself on the side pod hight (from undertray flat to top of side pod) and the hight of engine cover ( from undertray flat to top of engine cover) But I think the nose is close? If any of you are wondering about the cockpit area of the wildcat...I'm not worried about that area yet and it shouldn't be that hard to do and of course I will grind all of that resin out of there later. I stuck an AMT cosworth in the back of the 82 wildcat and everything length wise lined up...the turbo Assembly lined up right at the back of the body work correctly. I would really like to design detachable body work on this one and the wildcat. But Kinda hard to design a resin car to do that?

Oh yeah, if I had a big windfall there would be a 3D printer, CNC machine, and other goodies in my "workshop" to churn out the rare IndyCars we would otherwise never see....

Calvin,
I ave many detail photos of the 82 Wildcat that may answer some of the questions you have...and a vac-form body that some one did if that will help any? Just let me know.
Best to you!

Russ Sure, I'd be interested in seeing some pictures. Especially side shots that are almost a 90deg. angle to the car. Its hard trying to scale out a picture that is taken from a different angle. With your Vac form Wildcat I wouldn't mind hearing the dimensions off of it like the measurement of (A,B,C,D,E,F,G, and I) as seen in the pictures below. ;D So I can compare my notes to your vac form. Thanks
