Calling Il Gran Ferrarista! Not a toy but a resin 1/24th kit from Modellismo Leonardo (Island Collectibiles $130). It includes photo etch, wire wheels, & engine detail but the tires were too wide so I substituted from the spare box... I did the Monaco Grand Prix version because it was a hot day and they removed the engine side panels... A favorite car with one of my favorite drivers...

Tim,
One of my favorite cars and people of all-time. I was lucky enough to meet and talk with Phil Hill at the "Roar of the 60's" book signing at the Petersen Museum back in the late 1990's. He was a true gentleman and a class act! Nice build. I've always said, that if anyone would make a model of the Ferrari 156 Shark nose, they'd have a license to print money!
Nice build!

Love it! I hope when my 1/24 Southeast Finecast 156 is finished it will look as well done. I will be doing Gendebian's Spa yellow 60* car. Only one nit picky point...Phil drove a 60* V6 with a cut down windscreen at Monaco in '61.

Patrick; That is why you are "Il Gran Ferrarista!" When I built this, I didn't have Internet knowledge or any decent photos (several years back). It was an "educated guess" because of photos of Ginther's car (I think?) that had the flat six. You'll notice the engine isn't wired either; I had no clue where to find that info "back in the day." Should remind all of us about the wonders of the Internet and sites like this. This has been a Godsend to me and all you guys(ya'll in Texas!) have been an inspiration. Like Russ says, I don't know what I'd do without Chris Etzell,LanceSellers,Michael@Indycals,Bill Jorgenson and a host of others that have made a kid's hobby a lifetime passion... Forgive the error, my friend, and remember what my Dad used to say:"it's more art than science!" Tim Jones

Tim, I do understand. Info was hard to get back in those days. Buying books was the only way to get photos and now...I love the internet! Many of my models are built with the essence of the car as my goal. That will be the day that my models are 100% accurate. I ment no offense about your model which was well done. Most people wouldn't know the junk I know and I know very little compared to other Ferrari freaks. My 156 is at a hold because the carb cover isn't clear like many of the 60* cars. This is mine... So, continue to build great models. I love seeing what other people produce. Patrick
