I see the following decals available for use for the Tamyia Indycar kits from Indcals:
1993 Budweiser King Al Unser, Roberto Guerrero, Jim Crawford 1993 Amway Lola Scott Brayton 1993 Menards STP Nelson Piquet 1992 Quaker State Buick
Regarding motors, I think the Budweiser car ran a Chevy, the Amway ran a Cosworth and I don't know about the Menards car. Could someone help me out with this info?
Now, the Tamyia kit comes with a Cosworth engine, so if you want to do the Bud car with the Chevy engine, can you just rebadge the engine and paint it differently to make it look like a Chevy or do the engines look so different that you just do a curb side version of the kit?
Regarding the QS Buick, wasn't the body work around the engine signficantly different? I don't see how you could do reasonably accurate version of this car with some major work on the body. Correct?

The Menard 'bubble' cars were run in 1995. Tom T.

The engine covers on the Menard cars looked much like the other engine covers until 95 when they looked much different. Lance

The Menards STP and Quaker State ran the Buick. As Lance mentioned, the bodywork differences were not huge, but there were some differences.

Thanks for the replies Guys. Now, does anyone know if the Chevy and Buick look similar enough to the Cosworth that you can rebadge it? And if so, where car you find the badge? I suppose I could paint a bow tie on the valve covers or maybe find a decal.

I've got 3 of Tamyia cars, 2 Duracells, 1 Newman Haas. I think I will try to build the Bud car rebadged with the bow tie. The Amway car, even though it has the correct motor, is probably my least favorite livery of them all, so I probably won't do that one. Plus I'm I plan to build one of the AMT kits with that livery anyway. Maybe I will do curbsides of the Menards and QS cars at some point, but I will do the stock Duracell and Kmart liveries on the remaining 2 cars.
Thanks!

If you build the Quaker State car(s), the nose and front and rear wings are different than the T9300 kit. Other than that you can probably leave the rest of the car unmodified and have it look accurate.

The Tamiya kit is the '93 Lola. In 1993 the Chevy teams were pretty much all running the Chevy C. The Chevy C was similar to the Chevy B run in '92 Penskes (by Penske in '92 and indepentants in '93) a much cleaner looking from the outside than the Chevy A. As far as the chassis go - I think using the stock kit would be close enough.... However, it was always my impression that the Chevy powered '93 Lolas look like their roll hoops were a little taller than the Ford powered '93 Lolas?? Chevy Ford Jordan

Sometime back, looking through my Autocourse books, I seem to recall that just about everyone in 93 was running Chevy's while the Tamyia kit had the Cosworth. There might be a greater variety of aftermarket decals available if Tamyia had built one the Chevy engined cars instead.

Well the only ones running the Ford XBs in 1992 were Newman/Haas and Ganassi. 1993 was the first year Ford really went to a customer program - they actually had quite a few cars running them: Foyt, Walker, and Simon in addition to N/H and Cheep's cars.
I would guess that Tamiya only did the kit banking on ol' Nig's popularity which is why they would pick the Lola/Ford over the Lola/Chevy or even the Indy winning Penske/Chevy ;D

I actually wrote Tamiya in 1993 suggesting they do that car for that very reason - Nige and Mario. While I won't go as far as to take credit, it did floor me when they actually produced it!

You're one up on me Michael. I emailed Slixx when the Reynards hit in 1999 to tell them there was a good market for aftermarket decals and I even listed all the possible scheme... but alas nothing came from it - not even a reply Too bad because I think having Slixx doing decals would have opened more ppl up to open wheel modeling which would have sold more kits and made later cars like a ChampCar Lola or IRL chassis more likely to be kitted... at least that's what I told myself LOL Jordan

Someone (maybe UMI?) made some aftermarket decals for the the Tamiya kit. I know they made TARGET, COPENHAGEN, and Robbie Gordon's Valvoline (I think that was for the 94 car) and Scott Goodyears McKenzie. (Beautiful car...)
I was able to get one set of the TARGET decals years ago and they come up on ebay every blue moon but I sure would like to see someone else do them. (Michael...hint...hint...)
But the car I really want to do from 1993 is the John Andretti 10th place Copenhagen Marmon Group #84.
Other great cars to do (IMO) are Little Al's Valvoline (Why didn't anybody do these???) Danny Sullivan's Molson (Fantastic Looking Car) & Jimmy Vasser's Conseco.
Some people drove 92's in 93 but that can be fixed such as Brabham's Menard.
Heck! Let's do the whole field! ;D

I would buy any decal Michael made of a Cosworth-engined Lola except for the Amway car. I just don't like for some reason. Though, you might give us a chance to start buying some of the kits up before we see a spike in prices on eBay.
