Well, maybe not so, but here it goes anyway. To me, it is no small wonder that the TV Ratings for NASCAR on Fox have dropped like a rock! It is my prayer that Fox never gets the broadcasting rights to the Indy 500...or is it?
I turned on to watch the Daytona 500, (Why? Because it is racing....kind of....I guess) and I saw a concert, bad announcers gushing all over each other, a very stupid cartoon of a gay gopher and a religious service. Finally the race started with Richard Petty?.... (It didn't look like Richard from the camera angle I saw.) driving the pace car.
Now, to be fair, ABC isn't much better with the All-American Idiot Brent Musberger with the pre-race show for the Indy 500.....and the lame concert, the poor commercials and the endless gushing of Danica Patrick......come to think of it now....There really isn't much difference between the two broadcasts.......Oh well, never mind. I guess I'm showing my age and should be thankful that any network shows any kind of race at all. I like racing when it was just racing, not filled with bad commercials, idiot gushing announcers and Danica Patrick getting all the attention and drivers got credit for actually winning a race.
(sigh) Best you you-all!

you pretty much nailed it russ. it's no wonder the writing for the mute button on my remote control has rubbed off but i still watch a lot of the races when i can. with my dad racing stock cars it's natural to be a fan but it's tough to continue as one with today's "new" nascar. the picture below is my dad driving #400 in the south turn at daytona during the 50's sportsman/modified race. duane

It wouldn't be so bad if the track would hold together.

I was just thinking that if any driver is from Michigan they'd be a shoo-in to win.

It's not racing and I cannot support that crap by adding to their Nielson ratings...I was out shooting trap....NASCRAP sucks...and any open wheel driver that defects can rot in Hades.

Guess ole DW didn't watch the 2007 season at all when Dario won that one too. drrrrrrr

Potholes, Danica and mind numbing NASPEAK; "OOHHH BOY Danica's got booterflys this race!" "OOH BOY she's jist drivin' at er comfort level". "OOOWEEE looky at how she drove by that wreck!" (That the Queen Mary could have sailed through. First wreck). Granted the potholes were day two and the first stringers were running around the potholes.....
Yes, it did get to be a bit too much with the NASICA (or would DANINAS be better?), show.
